Campervans can enter on the Tuesday so might not be as bad traffic wise

You'll still have to negotiate your way through or round Bristol twice. The only way you are getting from the airport to that campervan place in 20 minutes though is with a blue light escort at 3am who've been told the doughnut shop is about to close.

Lol. If you fly from the airport maybe.

Depending on what time of day you are landing will have a massive effect on the timing obviously, but you're looking at closer to an hour each way assuming the M4/M5 don't grind to a halt then all bets are off.
You're probably right, though we have my brother-in-law who lives in Cleve ( a few miles south of Bristol airport) collecting the campervan for us on the Monday which is handy. Though that's all up in smoke if we don't get the tickets ! Ahhhh

That's perfect then, he can then direct you the back roads to avoid any traffic on the Tuesday as well from there. Unlikely to be as bad as 2016 again, but it can still be fairly nuts on the Tuesday.

Missed out on tickets for the first time, and now not even certain if I'll try in the resale if I can't get a campervan ticket as well as I'm not up for taking the toddler in the main fields.

    Fingers crossed..

.. was at him in the Apollo in London back in February.

Best gig I've seen in years.

EDIT: He's very much rumoured for All Points East though as well.. first announcement for that on Tuesday morning.

That's it. We were over in August and took a drive down to Pilton / Glastonbury for a look about. It was on the day there was a big night at Glastonbury Abbey with Paloma Faith due to headline, though she pulled out at the 11th hour. Had an amazing vegetarian feed and a nice pint of ale in the George and Pilgrim Hotel. What a beautiful part of the world. Myself and my son dandered to about a 100 yards from the Pyramid Stage along a wee lane to the west of Worthy Farm. Also had a wee dander about the fields where I'd assume CV East is and you could see the Pyramid Stage away in the distance.

Would be amazing to get tickets this time around, but we'll keep trying until we do.

Wow they've really sprung into life. I had thought they weren't going to have it next year due to neighbours etc

Anyone thinking of renting a campervan over there, it's definitely worth considering flying to South Hampton instead of Bristol.

More camper van options available, better prices and about the same distance to the festival site. (you get to pass newgrange on the way which is an added bonus!)

We were able to pick up and drop off our rental quite close to the airport. Quick stop off at Tesco to pick up drink for the festival, and we were there in no time! Zero traffic!

Didn't manage to get tickets for next year, but holding out for the resale in April!!

One word "Southampton", and the Newgrange is called Stonehenge. It would be a little bit of a diversion on the route, and might be busy with loads of other caravans thinking they are being clever taking the A303 from London with a view of Stonehenge along the way, especially if it's the solstice that week. But you'll have less chance of getting stuck than on the M5.

Got a quote out of  Southampton for a 7 berth and it was the same price as Bristol, £1299. Could you recommend a renter Sheog? Great, thanks

The stretch of A303 that goes past Stonehenge has consistently been the worst part of Glastonbury for me. There's not another 1km of road in the the world that I hate more.

So Stormzy for Friday night headliner then?

    Seems likely now.

Liam Gallagher for the Other Stage Friday headliner seems possible too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,156 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Seems fairly solid alright. That's surprising, his second album isn't even finished yet! He was grand on the other last year as far as hip hop goes, always a bit flat live imo, especially grime, too shouty. Liam Gallagher gonna be high up as well maybe headlining the other stage?

Kylie UK tour announced with a nice big gap on Glastonbury weekend, so pretty much a certainty that she's the Sunday afternoon act.

Thursday 20th June – Hampton Court Palace, London
Friday 21st June – Hampton Court Palace, London
Sunday 23rd June – Blenheim Palace, Woodstock

Tuesday 2nd July – Eden Project, St. Austell
Thursday 11th July – Castlefield Bowl, Manchester
Sunday 14th July – Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh
Thursday 1st August – Open Air Theatre, Scarborough

so that, and Stormzy basically confirmed for Friday night by Emily over the weekend, with The Cure and Paul McCartney seemingly highly likely to be the other 2 headliners.

Elton and Kylie on the same weekend?!?!? There isn't enough glitter and hotpants to go around.

    Razorlight?

Garth Brooks country legend stage :p

Well, I know I won't be at The Pyramid on Friday so. Nothing against Stormzy. Just don't know enough of his stuff and his stuff's not really for me.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater. He certainly seems big enough (Especially with the younger, UK audience) to fill the Pyramid on Friday and good luck to him. Just not to my taste

That's actually a good quote! We went with these guys:
    https://www.motorholme.co.uk/

It was a similar price for a 7 berth for us, but that was back in 2014 so may have changed since. We found them very good to deal with, and easy to pick up and drop off the camper from Southampton airport.
