Anyone's RTE One gone?

Mine is fine - is it just RTE or all Saorview channels.

I haven't heard of any frequency changes lately, could you do a rescan of just the saorview channels , this will probably sort it.

If these issues are caused by weak signal, bad/loose cable or something blocking aerial then other channels would also likely be affected.

I finally managed to get rid of the 'OnlineVersionCheck' error by going into the Logs section and doing a debug. I then did a network test and everything is back to normal. 😀

I was also looking at the PiconsManager section and out of pure curiosity could anyone tell me why a list of the picons on the different transponders (i.e. Astra 19.2 E, Hotbird etc.) comes up? AFAIK I am unable to access any other transponder apart from the Astra 28.2 E one as I guess the dish is fixed in that position.

Also what does the 'Merge Picons' option do?

Re. the first paragraph when I came back into the room after lunch a couple of hours ago I noticed the digibox had turned itself on again even though I had turned it off and now when I do a network test it says 'IP address unconfirmed'. Could anyone let me know where I'm going wrong as I can't update anything again?

Its having an issue with connected network as if you run Network test all is not green ticks

Maybe box and router need a reboot for it to connect to lan.

What image version are you running?

It's running on the 5.4.013 release from June. I saw the August update but haven't installed it yet since I wasn't sure how to fix the problem until recently.

I tried shutting off the digibox and rebooting it but that didn't make a difference. Should I try a network restart?

That sounds like an OPENVIX image , go to network settings Menu-Setup-Network-Device-Network test : lan connection and press green to start test to see if all green . I presume you have a working lan cable connected to router.

The Tiviar is quite old now. Something like the H7S is far superior in performance.

Wondering with age of tiviar and the issues of psu failures getting higher and higher is it worth keeping them in the loft.

I only use mine for TV - none of the smart functions, I have a Firestick for Kodi, IPTV, Netflix etc.. It's very solid for just the TV - record a match or pause if I need to answer the door

In terms of OS I think I prefer the OpenATV on the TiViar, to the OpenVix on the H7S , but they are so similar it doesn't really make much difference.

I have a Tiviar Alpha + and I use a PLEX media server. I would love to be able to load all the channels I have from the box into my server in the LIVE TV section. How did you manage to do it. The link you provided seems to be dead. I have an aerial and satailíte dish feed coming into the box. My server, My MAC, router are all beside each other too. Appreciate the help.

Tiviar Alpha Box - Sudden Problem With Volume

One day last week when I turned on the TV - for no apparent reason - my HD satellite channels are suddenly VERY LOUD compared to SD satellite channels and Saorview channels.

Clearly some setting has been changed but I've no idea how to fix this.

Would anyone any ideas?

I had a similar issue a long time ago, I think it was to do with PCM or Dolby, if you go into settings, sound/audio and switch one or other off at a time.

I have 2 issues that I would really appreciate help on. I have two Tiviar boxes but one recently crashed so getting it sorted again despite being far from an expert.

My 2 issues are:

A: The mini screen in menu like in this image is missing on 2nd Tiviar Box & I can't find the Menu or Sub menu where I can restore the mini screen

B: I tuned TV to Spur Hill, Cork for Saorview but it has RTE2, TG$ etc but not RTE1. Any suggestions please for either question.

For A try , Menu, Setup, EPG, graphical epg , show mini TV window make sure it says Yes you toggle.

For B are you using correct Channels and if so check aerial.

Having compared setup on both Tiviar boxes I now realise that on the box I'm having a problem on I do not have Vertical EPG option in my EPG menu whereas I do on the other box.

I can't see where I can restore 'Vertical EPG' as a menu option anywhere

Hawey the Satellite People,

I have one of these boxes, with HHB's wonderful install. Thing is, the internal hard drive is befukt. We've had problems with losing recordings, and now the box has started resetting every time it starts or finishes a recording. This (obviously) limits our enjoyment of what has been a wonderful little box.

I've looked around on OpenATV places on the interweb, and I know this is a HDD problem, so the best course appears to be a fresh shiny new one. Thing is, I haven't the first notion how to install OpenATV on a blank HDD, I don't even know what formatting it should have.

Has anyone done this? Either replaced the HDD or installed OpenATV for the first time on a Tiviar? I'd really appreciate any help here.

The operating system is stored on internal memory not on the HDD. If you replace the HDD you need to shutdown the box. Fit the new HDD, reboot and go into the menu, look for the HDD settings and "initialise" it. This will erase anything from the HDD and format it to the required Linux ext4 format. I don't have access to an openATV box to tell you the exact menu steps.

The Tiviar is very long in the tooth if you can even find them still. The current budget alternative is the Zgemma H7S

I was wondering if there are any fixes for sound sync, I have a new JVC tv and the sound is delayed, I've the box just connected just with the HDMI cable at the minute.

Sometimes i got that and rebooting box seemed to have fixed it.

Did you maybe try anther hdmi cable.
