League results so up and down for all county's. Clare lost first 3 games then beat limerick, b4 getting hammered by cork. Football the same. Armagh kicked dublin off the field a few weeks ago before getting a lesson off kerry yesterday.

Kk had a lot more to play for yesterday than limerick. They got awful criticism in their own county

As one who really admired Limerick's achievement in winning 5 all-Irelands in 6 years, a truly exceptional performance, I think that the players trying to break through are struggling. The new players are not winning the physical and 'pressure' contests similar to how the 'originals' did. Limerick lost both of the really physical games, Clare and Kilkenny, that they played in the league. Galway don't have the physical game to compete. Come championship, ourselves in Clare, Cork and Tipperary and possibly Waterford will compete for every ball. Limerick still need Hannon, Dan Morrissey, Kyle, Diarmuid Byrnes, Gearoid Hegarty and Gillane playing at their best to qualify imo. A mouthwatering championship awaits us!!!

I think Kilkenny needing to win for pride and us safe in 1A played a part.

Clare were not up and down. They were pure shte all tournament and just raised it for 1 game against us.

It's going to be very hard to replace those players when eventually their time is up, thats just the way it is it happened with the great kilkenny team and will to us too they're generational players and won't be replaced too easily, hopefully we'll knock a bit out of them yet.

I'm confident there's more left in them though we know the 4 or 5 of the younger lads that will get game time this year. The others will take more time I think that's fair to say

I think it's all about injuries now if we can get through the next 5 weeks with no new injuries and those that have injuries recover fully we're still very strong

im terms of new players struggling all new players struggle when on together and the experience is not in the squad

in soccer and rugby new up and coming talents are blended in to the experienced team until time is right that they take the spot.

Footballers got a draw against Wicklow in what was almost a promotion playoff. Ended 3-15 to our 1-21 and sounded like a real exciting over and back contest.

A win at home to Waterford on the last day will confirm promotion. A slip up there and you don't deserve to be promoted in fairness.

some lads need a break and not play 3-4 weeks in a row. Cathal o neill an example on Saturday - missed a lot of time with hamstring injury with ul - gets back and plays 3 weeks in a row - off with hamstring. Adam English, Cian Lynch and a few others looking at 4 weekends in a row on heavy pitches. Not ideal for soft tissue injuries.

With the rotation of players we were never going for the league, my only worry is at this stage of the league we looked slugglish and out of shape which wasn't for the first time. Flanagan and Tom morrissey were miles off the pace and it was clear morrissey was only kept on for game time. Will be interesting team for the dead rubber wexford game, will he give game time to the squad or play hannon, flanagan, hegerty and casey for match time.

Counties treat the league appallingly - for a top division you would expect all games to be reasonably close. Limerick were so far of the pace it was like watching a club senior team play a junior team. Galway were the same last weak in Limerick and you could say the same of Clare v Cork. Supporters are being short changed in terms of value and time spent travelling for a couple of hours. I don't buy the excuse they did heavy training mid week. Do it early in the week but be mafch ready for the weekend.

Its like a reverse league, starts out with great excitement but the last few rounds are played off to get them out of the way and treated as an irritation by managers and players. Think the idea of the league winners getting a point in the round robin or a guaranteed quarter final should be revisited.

fair enough but you have to realise 2 things , 1 , its the only competition to get sustained competitive games for younger players on the team to emerge

and 2 , teams like limerick clare or cork could meet 3 or 4 times between now and the second last week in july so why give your hand away ,

the entertainment is excellent in most of these games so why complain , i enjoyed yesterdays game in nolan park it was competitive and hard hitting , it also showed seamus flanagan is really struggling for confidence , and kiely was not happy with the movement of the team going on tg4 footage either , there is a lot more going on then just the league in these games

Ya but the fans will forgive all when you win Munster or the All Ireland. The same fans will come down hard on a manager that goes too hard in the league.

    It is what it is.

Our Tipp and Waterford games are confirmed for GAA+ and Cork game on RTE. The final round is also on RTE so maybe the Clare game too.

Pity about the Waterford game as most of us won't get a ticket to that one.

Great to see DOD and Hannon starting. English at 15 is interesting. Been a strange league for us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,552 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Stronger team than I expected and ya great to see DO'D back.

As for the league I think we were intent to go through at our own pace and got caught out by a Clare and Kilkenny side mad to beat us. Circumstances really dictated those games.

It'll also be the first time in a few years we come in somewhat under the radar for the championship.

Are the hurlers off to Portugal this year for warm weather training?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,552 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

I don't think we are under the radar at all. Everyone still sees us as the team to beat and talk like us and not Clare are still All Ireland champions. Only Cork have as much hype as we us.

All I see on sale are Mackey but I was sure they had both originally. Could be sales are so bad that uncovered won't be open on the day.

Not surprising seeing as it will be a tiny crowd now that we have nothing to play for.

Hannon dropped from the panel for tonight.
