I fully expect b murphy to start in 6 weeks. Nothing lasts forever, if finn and casey get back ahead of murphy we'll be in fine fettle

I think if his form holds up he's in, he's been a revelation so far, also free's Nash up to play wing back, without sacrificing a short puckout outlet, and frees up Hayes for centre back.

But Barry Nash was already "free" because we had Finn, Casey, Morrissey and for a time English.

Yet previously when there was a gap in the half line we used various options and never Nash.

Yeah I'd take a lot of the league picks on face value.

FB line of Finn/Casey/Murphy - Morrissey - Nash

HB line of Byrnes - Hayes - Coughlan/Nash (Murphy at 4 if Nash is at 7)

MF of O'Donoghue - English with Lynch as back up

HF line of Hegarty - Lynch - open for the likes of O'Neill/Morrissey/Reidy/O'Connor etc

FF line of Gillane - O'Brien - open for the rest to take it.

O'Donovan hasnt gotten any game time, Casey has gotten only minutes, cant expect either to start right now. Hannon has not played a minute yet, his form depending could revert to the old HB line but I cant see it as it stands. Expect him to play Saturday, seeing as Hayes limped off. Any word on Hayes? Looked like a groin injury high up.

Overall a good league. Even the loss to Clare, we could have buried them early on. For all the talk of Clare missing loads and using new lads we have started more, and used more players than they have this league, and we have 1 less game played to them. Think Cork and Tipp have used more than them too. We saw in the Clare game, Lohan slow to use his subs again when the win was there for them, I dont think he trusts his squad at all.

Agree i think until Murphy plays badly he's in,and as you say Nash to wing back.Imagine a Nash,Hayes Byrnes half back line would nearly guarantee you 6/8 pts a game, and your not losing anything in defence.

Hayes losing his speeding appeal earlier. Not good for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,586 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Not good for whoever has to drive all the way to Kildimo to pick him up for training every night 🤣

Wasn't aware the B&B on Mulgrave Street lets you out in the evenings.

That's least of his problems if it activate a previous two-year suspended sentence

team out. Gillane and hayes out. Wod drops back to 6 and sheamus back in.

Is it me or is Kiely flogging lynch played every game so far ?

He must need game time. English has played a lot too from memory. I feel like this team will struggle against KK. If Lynch gets a lot of attention in midfield then our distribution seems to suffer or somehting.

It's a stronger team than I expected seeing as relegation is settled.

Couple of weird choices like Peter Casey not on the team and O'Dailigh not starting again.

Peter Casey took an absolute wallop to his head and neck last week, didn't he?

either way , its nearly as good a comeback as his brother last week ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 858 ✭✭✭lim4ev

Of course there could be loads of reasons why p casey isn't at least named on the panel but I'm hoping he didn't have a problem after the Galway match. He's crucial to our hopes

just back. I honestly couldnt believe my eyes. Casey and flanagan wont be starting championship. Wonder how Kiely feels it was a shocking display

kk fans wheh 11 up were saying there is something fishy going on here. Limerick didnt seem up for it until the second half. Our first touch was off. Kiely may not want a league final but that was woeful.

tough day for a few lads and maybe the end of their chances at a starting place. keoghan with 7 from play - Lawlor dominant at full back. Sidelines are comedy at this stage - guaranteed ball for opposition.😂

Best to get these turgid performances out of the system now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,061 ✭✭✭einn32

CON came off with a hamstring injury. Hannon and DOD are training. Hegarty has some slight injury. Hayes is not too bad apparently.

Hard to know whats going on. Similar league to last year i guess. When we lose we seem to only get 20 points then the next week hit 30 points. We got no red cards in the league so far I think. Kiely reckons they couldn't train that hard with all the games they had! We've given a lot of time to young players in fairness although we have a lot of injuries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭biglad40isback

too much star power left out. If gillane and casey play they put lawlor on gillane and bull and Casey have more room.

Not sure on couglan. Seems like a kyle hayes without the touch and pace.

Full forward line had no joy. Flanagan won ball but didnt use it well. O Brien well held and O connor better once switched out the field. Gillane is absolutely critical to the team.

Reidy made uncharacteristic mistakes, Hurley not a presence in the game at wing back. O Donoghue generally very good.

Awful lot of sloppy play and cheap frees conceded.

Dowling is the biggest positive. Unbelievable save early on followed up by a second very good save. Great use of the ball from puckouts again.

Serious variance in performance levels during the league, excellent at times and poor at other times. The question is whether they can find consistency for championship.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 619 ✭✭✭C4000

This business of Adam English trying to chip the ball into the hand of a teammate can be dispensed with. Does not work, forget about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,457 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

dowling is still exposed until the first round of the munster championship as far as shot stopping is concerned .

as for seamus flanagan, he is really struggling at the moment and he knew it today ,for all the criticism i would be very happy with david reidys league work not to mention fergal o'conor ,

i agree adam english is not the same player for doon or the limerick u20s at the moment , but still a serious talent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34 Shocs24

Barry Murphy will definitely start in the full back line now come championship

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭biglad40isback

calmed down a bit. Its only the league. One campaign a few years ago we only won a game and were been giving red cards. everybody though the wheels were falling off.

I saw kielys interview last night and he does seem disappointed with the performance. I dont feel though he is unhappy about a league final though. No way he wanted tipp in a league final 2 weeks before the thurles encounter

When i saw hego pull out i knew we wpuld struggle.

A big block of work ahead. Hannon and dod are available for wexford. Im sure a few a v b matches and challenge games v dublin or galway will bring them up to pace for April 20

A lot of forwards look great when Gillane is taking up the oppositions best marker or even 2 of them. He also leads the line well and it looks messy and disjointed without him.
