The party appear in a desert, next to an old statue and ruined buildings. The night air is pleasant. The night sky seems red far in the distance.

Flak rolls out onto the sand and falls asleep. A hero's work done.

Death, now thirty feet tall appears before Ekbard.

"Choose five, any five you have ever known who have died, no matter how long ago. I will restore them. Merely give me the names. This much you have earned."

Ekbard looks at the statue with a contempt.

    Othegre clears her throat.

"He didn't do it alone you know. I contributed. Con. Trib. Yooted! Don't I at least get a badge or something? This ****ing team...."

She stalks off to look at the statue, calling for her doggie who was definitely at the entrance where the roping was done.

ooc: the current party in the desert is Othegre, Ekbard, Moy, Flak, Kal .

OOC: I'm a Naturey kind of character, I would have looped the rope over the dog. But I'm a Neutral character so I only do it just to have you Graciously allow me to pet it.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

"Oh, hi there Death. .. anyone who i have ever know, no matter how long ago... ahh deary.. that really throws a dagger in the works..."
Ekbard paces back and forward in deep thought.

Several minutes later Ekbard shakes himself out of his daydream of flying on the back of the dragvil.

"You're one for changing deals after the deal has been agreed on, aren't you. I'd spend my whole life pondering that little doozie you gave me, but i don't care much for pondering, I just want my friends from the foundry back.

There was Goodie, i think he was Ilberic Goodenuff, then there was Bandyleg McGillicuddy, then there was Ash his personal limbsmith, and the adventourous dwarf mud, kildunli mudshoulder, and Barikhek the dwarf who goodie beat up in the tavern fight.

There five for you, If its possible to restore the limbs of the robodwarf , bandy, during the process, can you do that, and if he doesn't want them restored, i'll gladly chop them off again for him."

Ekbard smiles, chuffed at his decision, he then turn and begins smashing the statue.

Death regards EKbard for a moment.

    "A simple task"

He gestures at the ground and all five appear clothed in simple shawls asleep on the desert sand. BandyLegs once more has his limbs back as they were before Thurmunton, though Goodie is surprisingly still young and giant (for a halfling). Kidunli wakes first, his warhammer in his hands.

"Thank you Nerosian, I fear I had passed, you have rescued me in some way." He looks around clearly not seeing Death.

    "The deserts north of Zassan?"

"You get a warning. Know what truly matters to you before Dwacatra"

    He turns back to Ekbard.

"We will meet again at the end."

He blows away like sand in the desert wind.

In the distance a caravan can be seen, three miles away.

    "The deserts north of Zassan?"

"I am unsure. We have just travelled here through a portal created by Flak, who is sleeping from the exaustion of it.

What do you think of the idea for one of us to run and catch up with that caravan and offer to pay them to turn around and collect us.
We have the money, to pay or bribe. But we would need a volunteer runner.

    Any other ideas yourself?"

"a warning? Gee thanks! That ought to cover the cost of the horses, carriage, coffin, faithful assistant and ten thousand gp that got blown up busting you out of that maximum security chalk doodle. Thanks a bunch!"
She spits on the ground and storms off.

Othegre eyes the red sky suspiciously.
"....I don't know, looks more like something lighting up the sky but I guess it could be, I mean what direction is that?......in the east I think, but I'm not sure, it never seemed important before. Lots of things didn't.... i don't know. There's a lot! Maybe the tide is out..... Ooh yeah, but then it's not just me that's in trouble. We should check out those buildings for cover.... No I haven't cheered up! I'm stuck like this again, I can't get any respect from Death, I can't rampage through a village properly. I'm not alive, I'm not dead, I can't even be the monster everyone treats me as without getting verbally abused. I- oh what's the point. Maybe we should stay here. See if it is a sunrise.... No they won't! They'll just be upset they didn't get to do it themselves!.....my hole they do. I'm not bisecting witches or healing dragons. Bet they respect the Magjerk! He's only been here 5 minutes but you can tell by those smug snores he's the reason we're in the middle of nowhere instead of a vapour cloud over a village shaped pancake. No, Si Si, we need a big score. Something huge."

She lets him run down her to her palm, and cocks her head to one side.

    "Something giant!"

"Another idea is i could ask Vergadain where we are, he would answer me, but you'd have to read the answer because i can't read dwarf and he only writes in dwarf language for some reason :("

"although, i could ask him to draw us a map and put an x on it for us. then i wouldnt need it to be translated"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

"or, better yet, we could ask him the name, distance and direction to the three closest cities, then we should be able to work out where in the world we are."

OOC: Can remove axe if you like.

    He stares down at his...legs?

    ACTUAL LEGS!

Then he realises he is gripping his axe so tightly it is drawing.....blood?

A wave of exhilaration passes through him. He has his limbs back! He jumps to his feet and bounds around the place like a crazed loon.

'By Vergadain! They've been restored! How? Why?'

He bounds over to Ekbard and shakes his hand heartily
'Look Ekbard, I can shake yer hand again!'

He notices Moy kneeling in the sand, praising Nír. He kneels down beside him, first time he has done so since before Thurmonton.

'Praise be to yer God, me own, ter everyone's, I can kneel again!'

He runs over to Flak next and smirks at the others, before drawing his hands together and clapping loudly in Flak's ear.
'Sorry lad, I haven't been able to do that in weeks!'

FINALLY, he reaches his hand up, turns it sideways, and....

    SCRATCHES HIS ARSE.

"Aye bandy, you were close to dead, frozen in a state of dying for ethernity unless i did a deal with Death, well, we held our end of the deal up and Death's end was for you five to be brought back here, but i asked that your limbs be restored, as I could easily cut them off again if you prefered your mechanical limbs, but the chance to restore your real limbs don't come past every day, i really hope you don't mind."

    Bandylegs smiles.

'Go back to me mechanical limbs? Not in a month er Sundaes, the ice cream ones at that lad!'

He looks around surveys the vast desert.

'Where in Dumathoin's beard are we?'

"I dunno, mud here think zassan desert. Goodie has run after that caravan over there, see...", Ekbard points in Goodies direction, "and going to ask them for a lift for us, i guess.
I could always ask my stone where we are, but I think I'll wait to find out how goodie fares first before resorting to asking a god for directions."

Bandylegs thinks for a moment, his head still not fully clear.

'Well, what are we waitin' around fer? Let's follow Goodie yonder. If that caravan be hostile.... I dinnae think even a large halfling can handle them in these here rags!'

Bandylegs starts walking in the direction Ekbard pointed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

Ekbard calls after Bandy, "I'm going to wait here with flak until he rests up, he saved our lives and I'm not leaving him alone until he has recuperated. Goodie can run faster than them camels if he needs to flee."

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 58,086 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    Bandylegs shrugs at Ekbard.

'Suit yerself. Meself and Betty here (gestures to his axe) will make sure the halfling is ok. Mayhap I should take a spear or a bow with arrows fer the young lad too should anyone have 'em to hand.'

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

Ekbard looks at the rest of the party, "feel free to join bandy there or explore the ruins, I'll be here with flak until he wakes or goodie returns with the caravan."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

Ekbard waves the magic spear in the air, "you can have this 'ere one"

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 58,086 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Bandylegs runs back over to Ekbard and takes the spear from him.

    'Aye, that'll do nicely.'

Then he trudges off into the sand to try to catch up to Goodie.

Othegre explores the ruins and hopes the dwarf has some lotion for those baby pink limbs if he's planning on continuing that jog after the sun comes up.
