A second M4/N4 would help, another crash this morning and loads of traffic hitting the alternate routes.

agree major crash today on m4.......delays for all......gladly does not occur too often.............but delays in celbridge are a constant every day 7am to 9.30.....2 pm to 5pm..............and often 6pm to 7pm...........all day on saturdays....we need help from real engineers in north kildare......there has to be a solution, not one improvement..........but several small improvements, allover the town to improve flows...........and get buses and trains working bit better..........but must start with ring road and new outer bridge.......plus widen present narrow liffey bridge........engineers with vision required now..........2019 fast approaching.....

On a second m4... I know this is a joke but.. what would happen tomorrow if the M4 was doubled in capacity to 4 lanes in and out? Cars would get to the M50/Palmerstown quicker, but now you have all that additional capacity hitting their at once... at which point traffic slows/stops and begins to backup onto the M4.

You are also incentivising more people to drive, funnelling more cars into the city which cannot handle the current volume (how do you redesign a city that was mostly built in the 19th century?).

Something needs to be done for sure, but if a new bridge and ring road was built tomorrow I would put money on it being at capacity within a few years and back to square one (look at the m50 upgrade works from 8 years ago, back to square one already)

Another epic morning awaits your commute.
Another multi car pile up on a road where the cars are travelling in the same direction.

Yep, there should be automatic bans for idiots who cause this much disruption by driving like you have mentioned
