While i dont hunt, i wonder would any of ye know how to keep a cat out of the garden, without killing it. it belongs to my neighbour. shes a widow and the cat is her pet. We had 4 wild rabbits in the garden and it killed them during the summer, now the problem is that it keeps stalking the bird feeder i have out in the garden. the birds are afraid to come into the garden. When ever i see the cat i run it off, but it always comes back. I wouldnt mind it it got rid of the rats and mice weve had over the years but it hasnt. Is there any non lethal methods to stop the cat coming into the garden.. thanks

One blast of the garden hose and you won't see him again

Tough one alright, the cat considers your garden as part of his territory.

Try the water spraying suggestion and see does it put him off.

    Folks,
This thread was not started in the Animals & Pets forum, and some posts the breach our charter have been removed or edited.
Please be aware that discussion of population control methods (other than neutering) is not allowed in this forum. Neither is any discussion of harming or killing animals. Water sprays towards the cat are about as far as we're prepared to permit.
    Thanks,

Lemon and orange peels, or plant plants with a citrus fragrance. Apparently they hate the stuff. Ive seen water bottles in gardens too, not sure how effective they are.

Lavender keeps cats from crapping in my raised beds. Plant a LOT of lavender! ;)

    Does nothing except attract slugs.

OP, your best bets are: motion activated sprinkler, or some sort of rotating drum on top of the fence so that she can't get purchase to climb over.

Exactly, and cats hate slugs ;). Seriously though, is that the peels or the citrus plants?

Plants I don't know about, but I do know that the peels are worse than useless. As are plastic bottles of water, and CDs on strings. My grandmother had a fear of cats and tried everything to keep them out of her garden, to no avail.
