    In other news:

Toro Rosso to announce one of their two 2019 drivers at Sochi.

    Kvyat, Giovinazzi or Kubica.

Being the Russian Grand Prix and that I really can't see who might get it

Mercedes again complaining about Ocon not getting a seat. If they are that desperate why not just send Bottas to Williams and give Ocon the second Mercedes seat.

Ferrari will have a young driver in their team.
Red Bull will have 2 young drivers in their team.
Mclaren will have a young driver in their team.
    Mercedes will not.

If they rated him as highly as they claimed to, he would be in a Mercedes seat end of story. Toto can talk all he wants about politics, doesn't change the fact they refuse to back the guy. FWIW I am not as bothered by it as some others, I don't rate him anywhere near Verstappen or Leclerc

Free engines and technical assistance for a seat would do it.

They already gave them Paddy Lowe and look how that worked out.

    This too shall pass.

Wolff to go back and lead them? It ain't all down to Lowe either, he has had success, who designed this years Williams?

Apparently Dale Coyne IndyCar squad approaches F1 driver Vandoorne over seat.

    And Ocon
    and Wehrlein

Even though I never liked Villeneuve and was a big Schumacher fan, I don't think many can disagree this was a fantastic move, maybe even better than Hakkinen at Belgium 2000.

Sadly the track hasn't returned to the F1 calender since.

^ F1 will never return to Estoril. If Portugal starts hosting F1 races again, it will be held at Portimao.

    Which is a pity.

Never say never especially with Liberty Media in charge now. It came back to Paul Ricard in France so why not Estoril in Portugal? If they got a good deal and it was brought up to the standards needed for races now it could happen.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Paul Ricard should be a banned conversation here. Such a trash track

I said it should be at the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans. F1 at Le Mans would be sure to draw in the crowds.

    This too shall pass.

Paul Ricard was a poor race.

Bring back the pre 2004 Magny Cours.

The stripes made it so difficult to watch too

They ruined the fantastic first two corners by sticking a chicane in.

Even in the 1960s the Bugatti track produced a crap race.

Are Redbull going back to the B spec Renault engine for the Russian GP . ( mapping problems with Spec C engine ..which did look good on pace)

Honda expected to bring their Spec 3 engine to Russia , rumoured to be a 35hp jump (750 total , Renault is approx 730) . should be fun it it works

Is that all? I thought I read last year that the Merc was approaching 1000hp. Obviously Honda and Renault are behind, but there's no way it could be nearly that big of a margin.

Edit: maybe that's just the ICE you're talking about?

Just that yes, Ferrari are at 790 and Mercedes are 780...apparently. so still a ways back from them.

I wonder if it's anything to do with the fact the Singapore metro runs underneath the circuit. I remember a few drivers (most notably Rosberg in 2014) suffering electrical glitches as a result.

Ericsson out, Giovanazzi in at Sauber
    https://www.racefans.net/2018/09/25/giovinazzi-replace-ericsson-at-sauber-in-2019/

Great news with more new talent joining F1 next year. Hopefully Russell also gets in somewhere

Thats worded very strangely ... It says Govanazzi is replacing Charles Leclerc , doesnt actually say Ericsson is out .

Sauber is used of signing three drivers, they can handle that. :pac:

Yeah, looks like Ericsson is being kept as third driver and ambassador. Is he a bit young to be doing a 'Button'?

I think they paid him off royally and will give him drives with Ferrari at LeMans and other opportunities. He won't cry over that.

Yep, and he will have almost 100 GP to his name by the end of the season. A longer career than his modest skills would have suggested were possible.

Ferrari getting one thing right at least, one young driver graduated to the main team and another debuting on the grid (properly this time)
