Better class midweek racing at this time of year and there is a nice listed race for fillies and mares at 3.10 in Pontefract today.

I suggested Julia Augusta was worth backing in Royal Ascot and she seemed to disappoint when finishing only 10th,however when checking out the full result it became apparent that she had an impossible task from stall 4 and she was carried wide when trying to get into the race from stall 4 and her chance,if any from the draw was gone.

High numbers totally dominated that race and Julia Augusta was the first home of the low numbers.

She is a very decent bet at 17/2 with Paddy and she has one of the best jockies riding today on board imo (Danny Tudhope).She is drawn high again today but with only 11 runners Danny should have no trouble picking his route and can get her home.She is worth a little more ew than one’s normal bet.

Only other bet today is Rousing Encore 4/1 in the 3.10 Pontefract hampered badly at Epsome so I put a few tenners ew in Powers as the go money back as a free bet if placed max a tenner but I always get away with a few tenners ew.

Ok so - its finally happened - im throwing out a few fancies today - usual caveats apply, i only really bet EW, and sometimes include the few cheeky doubles -

2:30 Catterick – im backing Stellarmasterpiece at 5-1. Odds seem to have fluctuated a bit, and he is 11-2 currently on 365. I think the distance, and the running favour a good performance from Stellar, and the odds seem decent, and worth a small EW

3:00 Catterick – in this one, im backing Shetakesthegold at 11-2. – i just think at 11-2 is a bit long on this one. Up against Gillali Lass, who probably has an edge, but Shetakesthegold came 2nd last week over a similar distance, and i think there might be room for the upset here. I might throw on a place bet here too

DARK HORSE

4:53 Bath – I moaned and groaned to myself about whether to even mention this here. But Fact Or Fable has a slightly odd track record. I can see some wins and some places in the recent past, but also some total failures. For me its what makes a dark horse bet interesting. While to me, there are no out and out NAPS in this race, i just saw FACT, and decided id take the punt and see what happens. At 12-1, id take a place of course, and il watch it with interest

Thats it for me. Interested to see if anyone else has any opinions. This really is my first post to fancies so! If they all lose, or whatever, please go easy on me! :)

Enpirestateofmind is not getting any younger and his recent form is dire but I think there are a few reasons why he will win the 3.55 at Hamilton.

The horse is 0 for 24 runs when running after a break of 21 days or more but on good or soft after a break of 20 days or less he has won 6 of his 12 races (50 per cent) he runs after a break of 13 days now and has dropped to his lowest mark for years and runs in a class 4 under the right going conditions for the first time in years.

With the going the draw,the class of the race in his favour now is the time to get stuck in and have a bit more than usual on ew at 10s.

Hamilton 6.35 is a good 6 furlong handicap and can be win by Bergerac who runs well in big field sprints.

An ew bet at 8/1 4 places.
