Anyone know if there are TWS with the Qualcomm QCC514X chip on the market yet?

Doubt there would be any available yet, they were only released in march, and apart from anything else, lockdown may have made it even harder for any companies to get their hands on large amounts of them to manufacture any wearables or make them if they did get the chips.

Been a big fan of Anker headphones in the past but have had bad luck with the current Spirit models. Amazing customer support always replaced with no question but the third paid have died on me, so time to move on.

Went and bought the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1's, £99 from Richer Sounds, and they are *fantastic*. No idea about call quality, it's the audio I wanted, and I'm really delighted, heartily recommend!

I had trouble with a pair of Spirit Pro that only played in one ear when they were very new. They sent a new pair immediately.
I found the sound quality better on the Spirit Pro better than the Slim but don't see the Spirit Pro on Amazon anymore.
    What would people recommend?

I got a pair of Tiso i4s this time last year. They've recently started dying after less than an hour of use. They lasted a lot longer when I got them and were great at noise isolating (when cutting grass or other loud-ish things), but an hours use isn't enough.

I take it this is par for the course for these sort of cheap AliExpress ear buds, or are there ones known for good battery life? I know all batteries lose charge over time, but I was hoping to get more than a year out of them :(

There's currently a 20% off voucher on the Anker Soundcore Life p2 on Amazon UK. It also applies to some of their other earphones

The Tranya Rimor are getting worthy mentions from people that have purchased them. Most 'complaints' (if you could call them that) I have read, have been about the charging box being a little light and possibly not suitable for jogging.
Currently $37.99 with code BONNIE50 from their site - https://www.tranya.com/rimor-true-wirless-earbuds-p0022.html

    Cheaper on amazon.com
    ($29.99) but I didn't check out shipping.
In Europe for €49.99 as cheapest - https://www.hagglezon.com/en/s/tranya%20rimor

Edifier W820BT (White version) are on sale on amazon Germany for €16.36. Shipping is €8 so still a pretty good price.

The others are on sale with a 20% discount (on the UK site too) but hard to beat that price if white doesn't bother you.

Loads of reviews, the first one in google results -
    https://www.motorverso.com/edifier-w820bt/
They have reasonable bass and plenty of volume. The sound is sharp and crisp, with no distortion or any clipping. And let’s be honest, you’re not going to find a better pair of headphones for just $49.99.

It looks like they are €27.99 now, which is still a good price. How does it compares with TaoTronics?

So my Tiso i4s are starting to annoy me. The rubber cover on the left button keeps falling off. Now they have seen a lot of use in the time buying them (as recommended here) and I even use them when mowing or strimming the garden.

I'm gonna try use glue to stick it back but if that doesnt work, I can see them being retired which is a shame. Also the open design of the ear bud holders has gathered a fair bit of crap too when out in the garden so a closed top design is defo the way to go, which they did in the later versions.

I'll likely go for the Anker Life P2 ear buds as reviews etc have been good and I have the Anker Life Q20 headphones which I really like.

I couldn't say, I only had one pair of Edifier and it was a while back. They were an older model although I can't remember which. They were decent, and afaik still going strong. I gave them away as I had bought them for €11 in sale and gave them to somebody that needed a set.
I believe Taotronics and Edifier would both be equally well regarded in terms of price and quality.
IIRC Edifier made a few of the massdrop/drop headphones last year. They often get good write ups, but I am sceptical of those anyway unless they show a full breakdown etc.

For that, don't use any glue, use something like B7000
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/SUNSHINE-purpose-B-7000-Adhesive-Repair/dp/B01MYXILCA
Clean them first with some petrol on a cloth (you can use the same to clean the mesh inside too).
You can open them up and clean them too.

Well I didnt glue it and the rubber pad fell off when I was out on my ride on mower so I think that ship has sailed, but good shout on the Adhesive link.

The Tronsmart Apollo Bold TWS with ANC are getting great reviews so far. They have the Qualcomm Flagship chip QCC5124.
I have just bought two sets of headphones, but these have me tempted to spend another €82ish (after discounts)
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001232901989.html
    Bottom line:

Cons: The price ;) , The fit in the ears needs to be done more accurately (but this is more my own fault).

Pros: They sound great like wired good headphones, the flagship Qualcomm QCC5124 audio chip is surely the future, the noise reduction works great, and it is felt in a good sense of the word.

In summary: There is a very good trend happening at the minute with quality for price!
High-quality, good sound becomes more accessible, there is a wider choice - the future is sounding good!
Taking into account the price and flagship quality and the closest competitors, we can say that these headphones are top for your money.

For those who want to purchase them, the store has a coupon: ANCANC3 which drops the price to $99.99
And if you also take the coupon on the product page ($3 from $50 spend) then the price will be $96.99

Spend the little bit extra and buy the Sony WH-1000MX3’s. They are phenomenal headphones

I've seen them on sale for less than €200 recently. I think it was amazon Spain, but not sure, I'll keep an eye out for them.

The XM4's have just been released (£349) so depending on the amount of stock being held the XM3's will possibly have a few flash sales over coming weeks which might see them dip into the €200 range.

I saw them on a flyer on milled. MediaMarkt Germany were/are selling them in B&M stores for €170 and €159 in some stores.

May be worth putting an alert on keepa to watch out for them, as often Amazon Germany matches Media-Markt and Saturn.

Also, the offer only available in B&M stores, so the online link will likely be normal price.

What are the best sounding and comfortable over ear headphones available these days?! Don’t want to spend the money on the Sony WHM3’s...not too bothered about NC either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 723 ✭✭✭slimshady007

Has anyone any experience of the Skullcandy Indy Evo headphones? Reduced from €100 down to €80 in Harvey Norman which seems decent as they're €108 in Argos.

Will be used for gym/exercise so want a decent pair but never used any before so open to suggestions around that price point.

Got a pair of Redmi Airdots S in the post from Gearbest today(shipping took the bones of 2 months!)

Very impressed with them, they fit lovely, they sound decent for the money involved and the design of the charging case is nice too. A good bargain buy, think they were about 20 dollars.

Note they are very much in ear so they will block out outside noise. Wouldn't fancy making a call with them.
