Feel like Brion Saunderson is a future senior keeper. Thought he was outstanding again against Wexford. He has had a good year with UCC too.

Cork team for the Clare game. Robert Downey, Séamus Harnedy, Alan Cadogan and Jack O’Connor all make first league starts of the year. Ger Collins come in for his brother Patrick while Dáire O’Leary comes into the full-back line.

Damien Cahalane and Conor Lehane are back on the substitutes’ bench after recent injuries. Niall O’Leary again captains the team.

in the 2013 replay we were surounded by cork folk , just before the ball was throwen in a chap from blackrock said to my mate beside me , " cork needs this all ireland ten years is too long " my mate said back but sure did ye not win the all ireland in 2010 to which replay " thats the same thing as neptune wining the basketball or cork city wining the league of ireland "

if that was or even still is the cork attitude its a disgrace , ,that team in 2010 was fantastic , the mighty noel o' leary john misckella, o'connor , goulding , aidan walsh paddy kelly dont forget eoin caodigan was there as well

We had people saying things like, sure so what they didn't beat Kerry. Well the hurlers didn't beat Kilkenny to win the 1970, 1976, 1977, 1984, 1986, 1990 and 2005 all Irelands, but those wins are still rightly cherished and celebrated. I feel that if it wasn't for Jim McGuinness and his system, that we would have won another all Ireland in 2012. A bit of naivety cost us in 2009. Kerry were just that bit cuter than us i think.

Cuter is one word. Tadhg Kenneally taking out Nicholas Murphy after 30 seconds of course is not what I would call cute. Not even a card from the ref, could easily have been red- Murphy was certainly not at his best after that high challenge.

26 minutes in - shoulder to the jaw.

It was not cute to brag about it in his biography either.

"I'm going to charge in and hit someone at the start," he says he told Galvin.

"My theory," he explains, "was that I really wanted to set the tone for our side. We wanted Cork to know that we were a totally different animal to the one they'd faced three months earlier."

He went on: "As we got to our positions, I looked across at Galvin, who nodded, and then positioned myself on the line ready to race in when the referee put the ball in the air. My eyes were almost rolling around in the back of my head. I was like a raging bull."

He says he "timed it right" and caught Murphy "perfectly on the chin". His message was: "Cop that. It's different this time, boys".

The Central Competition Controls Committee (CCCC) examined footage of the incident after the final and decided not to ask Duffy to review his decision.

He might have some kind of personality disorder:

"I think the way it was interpreted was that I had planned to go out and hit Nicholas Murphy straight away. If I tried to plan what happened there is no way in the world I would have been able to do it," he said.

"That was the thing that irritated me the most. Personally, I expected more from people who thought I would go out and do something like that. It really got up my nose more than anything else.

"I talked to Nicholas when it happened straight away. I know Nicholas very well, I played this game with him. I'm quite good friends with Graham Canty and I'm quite good friends with the Cork players.

"It's media, it's the way things are; that's the way people are going to read into things. But the people who know me, the people whose views and opinions I appreciate the most, know the real story.

"I said I was always going to be physically hard in the game because I'd felt Cork intimidating us in the replay down in Cork.

"I got an opportunity to hit a shoulder, yes I was high, but I got an opportunity within 10 seconds to hit someone a belt of a shoulder. I was going to do that any day of the week.

"I wanted to be physically tough in the game just to let them know we were in the game, that we were a different outfit, basically. I wasn't going to be going out trying to clean up every fella on the field. That's not the way I play football."

Wexford have no Minor or Under 20/21 All Ireland title since 1968 either. There's a strong argument that one Senior title is as much as they could have expected in that context.

We had our chances to beat Kerry on the day, but we didn't take them. Truth be told if one of our players did that, i honestly couldn't care less as long as we won. Kerry well and truly had our number in most of those Croke Park games. 2009 was the only one where you felt that we could've won imo.

Dunno are the times set in stone but see TG4 as set aside 7-9:45 Saturday evening and 1-3:30 Sunday afternoon for matches. Not sure is Cork match more likely to be on the Saturday with the Munster rugby match on Saturday evening. Guess it will be confirmed tomorrow either way.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,064 ✭✭✭zetecescort

no lights in Nowlan park so if its Saturday it'll be the afternoon

very impressed with the young cork team that showed up today .nothing soft about them it was a terrible day for hurling but they were up for the battle

interms of starters for the championship it was 12 -4 in our favor and two of them cork players harnedy and dalton left the field early , lehane could have won the game for ye if his frees were up to scratch but great fight late on to claw the game back for a draw , pat ryan doing a great job at the moment
