    Keep politics out of games!

Well, I'll just delete that from my YouTube history; that wasn't edgy, just pathetic. I look forward to see footage of it used as the next cycle of anti-gaming hysteria kicks in. Thanks ... ... *checks notes*... MadMind Studios...

Reminds me of when that trailer for that awful game 'Hatred' came out. Edgelords are the worst

For those looking for some non-edgelord kicks, Manifold Garden has finally come out and it’s a doozy. Granted, its infinite, Blame!-esque environments are basically tailor-made for my own aesthetic preferences. But it’s a cool, smart and trippy puzzle game on top of that.

Tried it on Apple Arcade first but the graphical downgrade and functional but awkward touch controls made me upgrade to the PC version. Very happy I did - a game this visually rich really soars with the hardware to push it further.

    It looks shìte also.
I had to watch this out of morbid curiousity, because everything you said felt like it couldn't have been real.
    But yep, there it is.
A team of devs thought this was a good idea.

Between coding accurate horse testicles in RDR2, and proper erection animation in the above shovelware, I wonder do those designers sit back and wonder what on earth they got into game development for? Not exactly designing some enemies for the latest Mario, is it? :D:(

I dunno, a billion dollar franchise can start out as a porn game.

EDIT: The franchise in question: Fate Series

Getting Outer Wilds next week so to pass time I downloaded Path of Exile to see what it's like.

I don't think I've ever seen a more intimidating skill tree in a game. Christ above.

What the fecking feck?! I don't know the game, but that skill tree puts me right off from the get go. Link for the pic if anyone wants a sconce. I take it you only fill up certain parts of it depending on your progression choices?

I uninstalled it after two hours. Those games just aren't for me.

But yes, you only fill up certain sections. I chose a witch and part of it is dedicated to her powers but a lot of it is across the board upgrades like health.

What I don't understand is why not take all a character's skills and put them in their own tidy skill tree?

    Get Diablo 3 instead.

So the Wii just got a new game released on it, Just Dance 2020.

Mental that it's still getting releases but it was such a massive success and is still hooked up in many peoples house for casual play.

Thought it was a fantastic console myself. Much and unfairly maligned. Sure it had a heap of shovelware but the PS2 was even worse in that regard. When you look at the better and quirkier games it had an excellent library and it's a console I'd rank over the PS4 and Xbox One.

Did a clearout at my mams house recently, and kept the Wii for my own kids, went to CEX on saturday and got 4 just dance games for about 12 euros. needless to say, the rest of that weekend they had a blast bopping away in front of it.

it amazes me how quick kids pick up controls, they'd never used a Wii before, but in the space of an hour, they were able to control the pointer with more accuracy than myself. pesky kids!:pac:

"The Wii has no games!", they cried.

Then what the hell is taking up half of one of my shelves, ****o?

Wii also has some of the greatest games hardly anyone played

Madworld being one of my favorites

I've that to replay along with Mario Galaxy 1&2 on my Wii U

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

Most of the people I know who bought a Wii enjoyed it immensely for about 6 months and then it just gathered dust on the shelf :D But it's fair to say that these were all houses with no children and where there was also a PC and a "grown up" console for "proper" gaming. It was a great machine the Wii, but when you're browsing games to play and/or buy and for the same price you can get something you can play without having to wait for a 2 hour update (as happened to my friends and I when we dusted off a Wii for play a new Tiger Woods game) and that runs better and without Nintendo's broken online service, it's not really a competition.

The Wii has some great exclusives. And that includes third party like Zack & Wiki, MadWorld and Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands, which is a completely different game than the other consoles.

How long are Bioware going to bother with their N7 days stuff when they've not released any ME stuff and fired the last team who did.

Agreed, seeing total Bollox from the team today. "Where do you want to go next", "can't wait to show you what we have next", "we have so many stories still to tell" etc. Announce something if you are or stfu. Every comment was begging for a trilogy remaster.

If they do either a trilogy remaster, I'd ****ing love it. If they announced an Andromeda sequel, I'd be raging because I'd have to finish Andromeda on the off chance the new one would be worth playing, especially if it involved Quarian.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,815 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Yeah, a proper update for the original trilogy would be an instabuy for me, and I'd finally play through it as Commander Dick Shepard! And similarly, if it's an Andromeda sequel it will annoy me, as I tried hard to enjoy it but it was lots of meh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,104 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Adored the trilogy. Andromeda killed any interest I had in the ME universe moving forward.

Would still play a remake of the trilogy if they did it. That's probably the only option left to them with Mass Effect.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,815 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I can't play as a dick character in a game unless it's trophy related - makes me cringe! I personally adored Mass Effect Andromeda. I think it suffers from the Saved By the Bell: The New Class effect where it was never going to live up to the original cast of characters for most people. The rocky launch also made it easier to take the p out of.

I'm usually the same, but I know from previous experience if I try to replay a game as the good guy again, I lose interest. Which is why I replay so few games, as usually there is no choice system (that matters). InFamous 1 & 2 are the only ones I really completed on good and evil, but as you said, they were trophy related.

I was more than willing to like Andromeda, but it just felt flat in comparison. It wasn't as engaging, and the main cast were very meh. It was missing... something. Can't quite put my finger on it, but it bored me by the time I was supposed to build up the first planet. Maybe I'll give it a whirl again someday, I do have EA Access in fairness!

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,484 ✭✭✭✭Varik

Not sure how they'd continue on from ME3 directly. Would definitely buy a remake. I've the game on PC already so no too bothered with a remaster.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,815 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Wouldn't have to continue, but as many have said, a prequel covering the First Contact War could be good, and we'd get to meet Sheps parents/etc. Or, just go mad a go back even further and play as the Salarians during the Rachni war, or even further back and play as the Protheans. While the human connection may make it more 'believable', it's not necessary.

Or go all the way back to the Leviathians having created Intelligence, and what happens after that.

Bioware are a bit like Rare in the sense so many have left that they probably can't make anything remotely close to what they did before. I think the next Dragon Age could tank & they're effectively done if that happens.

When you look back even at The Old Republic, Dragon Age II & Mass Effect 3 the writing was on the wall. Old republic tanked, DA2 was pushed out the door half baked compared to its predecessor & then ME3 had multiplayer EA wanted, day 1 story dlc, a poor ending & different lead writer from ME 1+2.

Inquisition then was a game put out on PS3/360 for some reason & their first game using frostbite which was a disastrous decision as it had nothing readily available for them to use for that style of game. They had a cancelled game Shadow Realms which went nowhere.

Andromeda & Anthem are 2 of the least fondly remembered games of this generation. Just monumental failures critically which was so unlike a company of their stature to sh!t the bed twice in a row.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,484 ✭✭✭✭Varik

Old republic is still going and has a new expansion last September. Wouldn't say it tanked it just was WOW numbers at launch.

First Contact War wasn't really big enough by itself, but something I saw mentioned was a mirror verse alt timeline where the war ended in a 20+ year cold war rather than peace and you start off around the same time as ME1 familiar faces and all.

Fact ME1 was published by Microsoft might make a remake/remaster difficult.
