"Nice to see you, to see you... nice".
Sir Bruce Forsyth, the veteran entertainer and presenter of many successful TV shows, has died aged 89.
The former Strictly Come Dancing presenter had been unwell for some time and was in hospital earlier this year after a severe chest infection.
His long career in showbusiness began when he was aged just 14.
He became Britain's best-paid TV star, famous for hosting game shows like The Generation Game, Play Your Cards Right and The Price is Right.
He also presented BBC One's Strictly with Tess Daly from 2004 to 2014.
Sir Bruce had not been seen in public recently, due to ill health. He was too frail to attend the funerals of close friends Ronnie Corbett and Sir Terry Wogan last year.

My old dear saw him, one time. Said he was loathesome, because he rushed away after the show, disregarding the baying fans and autograph hunters. Maybe his Dog was taken sick?

Later, of course, he won her, like everyone else, over. " Here Kitttayyyyyeee!!! " Madman! :D

    RIP, Brucie.

My whole life he's been there in the corner of the front room and now he's gone.

'The Price Was Right' was brilliant.

Revived his career with Strictly Come Dancing.

    Interesting family background!

89 is a good age, but ask someone who is 88 and they will say its still young.

    RIP

Aw, RIP Brucey. To be fair though, any time I saw him on TV in the last decade I did say, "Jaysus, is he still alive?". He had good innings and was still energetic into the last years of his career.

A wonderful gentleman on screen and off.

His presenting roles in The Price is Right & Play your Cards Right, IMO, made him a legend.

    RIP Brucie. :)

He was married or in relationships with two Miss World's.

The only other person known to have slept with two Miss World's is the legendary George Best.

That's my Brucie Bonus fact for today. RIP

A giant of variety entertainment TV & an almost Vaudevillian type of old-school song and dance man. He had a reputation for being a spiky enough character though & wasn't universally loved within the industry.

    RIP

Someone asked him recently what he had been up to this last while.
"I've been very, very busy... being ill" he replied

Sad to see him go, he was born for TV.

A television natural, but he had the best team working with him.

The BBC crew who worked in light entertainment were the best in the business, and Bruce worked them hard.

There was a thing he used to do, when talking to the contestants on The Generation Game, where he'd make a sidelong glance at a point where he knew the camera was waiting for that exact shot.

    Truly a legend.

And I'm old enough to remember him presenting Sunday Night At The London Palladium.

    RIP Brucie.

back in the 1980s shell petrol had a promotion called "Bruces Lucky Deal"
which was a scratch card - you scratched 3 or 4 panels and if they matched you won something.

I was about 8 and my granny let me scratch one.
we won a tenner , which she took...

but i've loved gambling since that day

After he left the Generation Game Larry Grayson took over.

It was widely known the contestants were well treated with Larry and he liked to talk to them before and after the show whereas Brucie tended to ignore them at best.

But the programme never had the edge that Bruce brought to it and it did not long survive his departure.
