€10 for a pint of Guinness!

I went into a pub last night (not my local) and asked for a pint of Guinness. The barman poured me a crap pint and gave it to me. I took my first sip and he said "that'll be €10 when you're ready". I nearly fainted. I refused to pay it and he said "well you've sipped your pint already, so I'll have to charge you". I gulped down the pint and threw the tenner at the chap.

I have seen similar stories on here about things like this.

Why do barren charge an extortionate price for a badly-poured pint? Is that not breaching some sort of regulation or something? What are your thoughts on this scandal?

What price was displayed near the bar? Legally they must display this.

I wasn't paying too much attention, but on the way out I saw a sign that said:

    Pints - €7.

I'm calling shenanigans. €10 for a Guinness, me arse!

I don't know, nor do I want to know, what you are talking about, but it's not relevant.

Should they legally be charging a tenner for a pint that was advertised as €7?

To answer question 1: Can I name the pub?

Question 2: I was sober, Inonly had the one pint last night.

Question 3: I rarely ever drink lager.

If you are going to answer the question seriously, thanks. If you are going to troll, I'll delete the thread and report the trolling posts.

The bar was in the Mullaghmore area.

The barman realised that allthedunnes were sharing it, and came to a fair compromise for them taking seats.
€10 does not seem so bad to me.

Deco Nate is the only troll here. Is it normal for some barman to charge that for a pint of Guinness?

Jaysus, I only asked a simple question!

I don't understand the intent behind your question. You thought, perhaps, that someone would actually answer "Yes"?

Even worse when that half a brain has to be doled out between two or even three re-reg accounts simultaneously.

I once asked for a pint of blackcurrant cordial, as I was driving, and the bar man charged me €20,000, and took the shirt of my back.

    Robbery so it is.

I was in Reykjavik in Feb 09 after the arse fell out of their economy and that was the rounded up price for a a pint of lager in Krona.

Never actually tried to order a Guinness up there a that time but god only knows what that cost.

Serves the cnuts right for their Whaling after the International ban was imposed. Karma.

where i am assigned at the moment with work (Middle East), if i want a pint of larger or guinness outside of the private members club where i usually booze, you'd be looking at the equivalent of 10-15 euro easy......hence i don't booze there.....if you want to buy a tray of 24 440ml cans of guinness instead and booze at home, you're looking at about 120 euro roughly i think......but 10 euro within ireland i find very hard to believe....maybe its true but who'd drink there ever with those prices (apart from the OP obviously!)???

I remember back in maybe 98/99, I would be paying £1.90 for lager and £2.10 for Guinness, good times.

As for €10, is that the normal price in Mullaghmore cause there's not that many pubs there.

Or am I getting to over invested in this as chances are it'll be locked within the hour.
