I've been saying this for years and I know a couple of guards who are of the same opinion. If your child commits a crime then you as legal guardian should be held responsible. The scumbags under 18 know they can't be punished. It's a law free world for them, why not take the piss?

How much control would that give any teenager?
"Mom, let me do X, or I will commit a crime, phone the police, and *you* will go to prison"

Yes. Maybe the parents will have to actually do a bit of parenting.

we don't have enough room in the jails and they're all under 18 anyway so they should just waterboard them live on facebook

get the rest of the public to text in to pay 1 or 2 euro extra for another couple of goes of the wet rag and that would generate a bit of cash too

About 10 lads were in my local park last summer on quads and scramblers, tearing around the park, forcing everyone to get out of their way.

I rang guards, they said they have been trying to catch them for hours, but by the time gardai came they had moved on to their next location.

Its very hard to catch them without causing casualties

If you have ever exceeded the speed limit then the same thing should be done to you as you broke the law as well. Main focus of RSA and Gardai is speed so they would be more interested in you than them as I am pretty sure you exceed the speed limit more or have exceeded it at some point.

Parents who are scared that their own children would blackmail them in such a manner should have their children taken into social services as they clearly can't raise their own kids.

    Quite simple really....
Helicopter out and work with crews on the ground but have a specialist scrambler team themselves.
Have patrols in the areas and catch them at the house or when run out of fuel.
    That's neither simple nor realistic.

Is that sarcasm or did you just completely and utterly miss the point?

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

It is quite difficult lads, as you all know, it's pretty much impossible to stop a bike that doesn't want to be stopped. The offences being committed would be no licence, no tax, no insurance and more than likely, dangerous driving.

No force is allowed to be used under law to stop a vehicle for the above offences. Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act gives a power of seizure of the vehicle for the above mentioned offences (except d/drive), but it's only applicable in a public place.

Generally, guards will have a list of the likely suspects, but it's a case of catching them safely in the act, in public. Ideally, there should be a warrant that could be gotten from Court to seize bikes parked up on private property, but there isn't (to my knowledge).

So realistically we need the politicians to enact some new laws, cos I think it's a problem that's only gonna get worse.

Here's an article on the London Met doing their bit.....

:rolleyes::rolleyes:...you need to really read posts twice....just looking for conflict you are...angrygoose81....

Never boasted about him, in fact i detest him ,his family for supporting him AND the local judge who NEVER put him away..so there...;)

Nah mate, it's you who needs to read and quite clearly at that
Your post come across as a boast and at the minimum a nonnchalant attitude towards crime, pick your battles or pick your words. I'm not here to untangle your stupidity

Clearly no point in explaining that to you cause your quite thick.

If you detest him and his family so much why did you make them into a story where you tell how much crime they were involved in but then finish on the fact they are road racers and frame it as if that's some penance or free ride that somehow obsolves them of the crime?

Your smiley face tells everyone what they need to know about you and your opinions

If this isn't a boast I don't know what is..
The wink face to remind those of us that have had our bikes stolen that you know the type that steals them but not to worry, some of them practised on our bikes ,so we can all be proud of them in their road racing endeavours.
Reminds me of a lad i know,..a right scumbag, robbed cars, drunk driving,no insurance, riding motox bikes on the road, sold drugs,....what does he do now...He's a road racer......and quite good too...;)
As if a road racer is something to be aspired to, can get a guy away from dealing drugs and robbing cars

And then just to make sure we knew what your views were, if one of us had been the victim of theft
Only post on here if you're squeaky clean and never did anything wrong in yer life..or it'll turn into yet another moanfest..

It's only lads messing around and stealing a few bikes , your all too precious. Don't have another moanfest about your bikes being stolen.

The original thread was about about thugs riding stolen bikes around

You said you knew someone who was a criminal bit was a road racer now so it's ok and then made several posts saying that everyone in the thread must be an angel. if they had never carried out any uncivil behaviour such as stealing a car, as if that was de rigueur

Your an absolute **** mate and by reading your posts in this thread associate with same

They should get that copper from Fair City on the case, he would have it solved in an hour.

In fairness, could the Garda not pull up in an unmarked car and just video record them no need to chase anyone, do a bit of Police work to find out where they live, call around later that day or night and lift them out of it.
