Roscommon, turning Islamic?

A row has broken out over proposed plans to convert a historic convent into a mosque.
Pakistani businessman Mohammed Aslam intends to buy a protected, historic convent in Co Roscommon and convert it into a mosque.

The developer has placed an offer on St Mary’s Convent in Ballaghadereen

It seems the guy doesn't even like Ballaghdereen very much, but hey, its empty and its available, and you gotta start the plantation somewhere.

Mr Aslam made headlines when he objected to Syrian asylum-seekers being accommodated in the town of Ballaghadereen, where his proposed mosque will be located. He described the town as like a "desert with no businesses and nothing to do."

Earlier this year "Cork based businessmen" bought up a hotel and converted it into refugee accommodation for the lucrative asylum industry, and just as the conversion was finished the govt. obligingly delivered another batch of Syrians into the country.

Ireland's underpopulated county Roscommon is apparently nicely ripe for a new millenium multicultural plantation.
There are those that believe not only here (but all over Europe) that Europeans no longer breed fast enough, which will lead to a a lack of economic growth, which is bad for banks, and also threatens a "pensions timebomb".
Eamon Ryan is one such politician; he seems very much in tune with Angela Merkel and Peter Sutherland on this.

Recently Eamon said
