Yes, If someone is starting one I'm interested too. And if no-one is starting one soon I could eventually use my own solo a/c to upgrade to family and add names to it when it comes round for renewal again.
Not at the computer right now so don't kno when that's due at the mo.
The apparent hassle on the one recently here on boards last week or 2 doesn't inspire confidence about how straight forward the process is. From reading one or two of the posts it appears the hassle arose when some of the names put in a different address / postcode than that of the other users on that family a/c. At least I think that's what it looks like the issue was??

Can I ask, if you do this, do you need to create a new spotify account with a new email address if you already have an account?

And if you do, any way to copy over playlists, etc.?

No, you can just upgrade your existing account.

In the worst case scenario, you just find your old profile and follow your playlists.

The following might help some people to set up a family account:
Once you've created the account online, take a screenshot of all the details you entered - address and postcode used, in particular. Then send this to everyone in your family to make sure they enter it exactly the same as you have.

The postcode can be anything, as long as everyone in the family matches it. I had an invented one from way back before Eircodes, when some UK sites wouldn't/couldn't compute an address without one. Some people have invented an entire name and address - Spotify doesn't care as long as the payment goes through a Paypal account. All contact is made via email, so no real need for anything else that's 'real', AFAIK.

Spotify can do this for you if you want. Just contact them with the old account and the new account and ask them to merge/copy the playlists for you.

I'm having trouble copying over a playlist I created through another website, might drop them a mail and ask them if they can sort it......but I'm a bit worried that they might investigate my "family account"....

Exactly - which may or may not be real! My 'family' address is real, but the post code is an invention. I've heard of others who use a complete fabrication of name and address. A legitimate PayPal account with funds seems to be all you need - and it appears (correct me if I'm wrong someone) that it needn't even be your own?

Ok, am willing to set up a family as I want to reduce my own monthly spotify cost from a tenner to 2.50 per month. There seems to be a few people on-here looking to form a family via someone else's a/c.
Am happy enough to be the main name and do that side of it but can I ask any of ye who have done it how did you structure the payment so that you got paid by the 'family members'.
At the moment I pay my monthly Spotify fee by PayPal. When I sign-up to family membership I'll probably leave it as this monthly paypal debit. But what way do ye get paid by the family members.
As i understand it, if family members are paying me via PayPal there's a paypal transaction charge that has to be covered by either sender or receiver. (Sender decides!). Anyone who has already done it, do get the individual year's subscription (30 quid) from the other members upfront or just let everyone transfer 2.50 per month to you. Want a set-up that is seamless and convenient for all concerned.

If y're interested in taking one of those places let me know. When I get 5 names in total I will then mail my paypal I.D to those 5 people. They can transfer the €30 for the Spotify 12 month family fee. (2.50 x 12 months). I'll then mail all-5 the Spotify sign-up link for that Family a/c along with a screen grab of the exact home address. And once the address is input exactly the same on yr profile you will have access to Family Premium for the next 12 months.

The following 5 have been in-touch to say they are interested in forming a 'family'! I'll PM my paypal a/c details to all 5 now. When the 5 x 30euro lands in my a/c I can send over the Spotify link along with a screen grab of the postal address to input on Spotify (to concur with their criteria). Please note the address format that Spotify dictate there - street name first followed by house number. You'll see it on the screen grab anyhow... Judging by earlier posts here it was inputting the address and postcode to match precisely on each of the 6 members that seemed to be a stumbling block for other Boards people doing the same thing. I'm sure we will sail it tho :-D When you've sent the 30 to my paypal please also send me a PM with yr contact info and i can mail/Whatsapp u the access info directly. There's a couple of other Boards people on a waiting list so if any of the 5 listed below have changed their mind please let me know. Cheers.
