Time to focus attention on the final . Yesterday is what yesterday is ( yesterday's news).

What have we learned frm last year .
    - 19 different scorers and a full forward line showing very good returns . We're not relying on our half backs entirely .
    - a game plan that is focussing on mayos strengths . Our running game is back all be it at very controlled times .
    - a subs bench that can make an impact both in strength and in speed of attack . Durcan , Loftus, coen.
    - very good ability to adapt to opposition changes
    - Clarkes kicouts have improved .
-key players having continuous runs of very good games . Consistency in game to game performance.

Are mayo a better team than last year. I would say undoubtly yes . From management to individual players . Take tip on the semi or even Tyrone in the quarters we were not entirely convincing for long enough period . The last 2 weeks have shown we are edging performances of close to 70 minutes . A little more work and we should hit a 75 minute performance needed to lift the big one .

Paul Geaney would be one of the first names on the Mayo team sheet. JOD would also start for Mayo when fully fit.
Paul Geaney is a fine footballer and would walk into any team in the country .

I shall revisit after the AI with my verdict. Mayo will need an 9/10 performance to win.

I thought he got nearly all decisions spot on, although perhaps mistaking Paddy Durcan as the culprit late on.

Yes it was AOS who committed the foul and poor Paddy got the card. I watched it back last night and you can see by Paddys reaction that he had no idea what the card was for.

From what i saw of the 2 games, donaghy is the only kerry player that would make mayo's team. Yet all these so called analysts get it so badly wrong. Or are they trying to be controversial to get a gig?. Laughable.

Ah now, surely Paul Murphy also, one of the finest wing backs in the country! Paul geaney would also walk into that team!

Why? Your opinion does not appear to be based on anything of substance.

We won't be seeing you again!

He is indeed but there's a fair bit of hype around him too. He scored 5 points from play in 150 odd minutes against us.

A class footballer but he wouldn't be getting into our inside 2 based purely on the last 2 games.

Decent impact sub all the same :)

    Another good impact sub :)

Be handy to draw on him if Keegan, Boyler, Durcan or Donie picked up a black card.

Just watching game back and just listening to pre match brollys ****e about aido in the first match. I really dislike his analysis, it is so presumptive and preachy and knowally. Eat your pants brolly.

Like the Waterford county delegate said at the annual convention when asked about restructering of the football championship a numer of years ago "we may only beat Kerry once every 50 years, but by Christ they're the days i live for".

I'm almost 100% it was Keegan that should have been booked. There looked to be an incident just out of shot. Keegan and Savage were about to tussle as the free was given. Savage got booked too.

Gough wasn't sure and it was his linesman via the earpiece that gave him Durcans name. More similar in stature than Aidan anyway. Don't know why, but I'd love to know for sure.

Would that have been a second yellow for Keegan.........

Ye'll have no one left for the final at this rate.

Moving swiftly on is anyone not shouting for Tyrone?

You'd have to out of pure fan self-interest with the gap between the two so far...

So it looks like Dublin in the final. Wouldn't mind meeting that Tyrone team though.

Didn't think I'd be saying this today but Dublin continue to remain untested in the championship. Interesting going forward......

A Tyrone win or a Dublin stroll is definitely preferable to Dublin coming through a battle.

Strange game. Really thought Tyrone would do better. Dropped the heads early on, very poor passing in second half and too many easy point wides and no marking on Dublin kickouts.

Run at Dublin down the middle seems to be a slight weakness.

Dublin are a super team but are now completely untested coming into a final and none of their weaknesses have had a chance to be exposed.

I honestly that was an absolutely ideal scenario for ourselves. We'll now be written off to high heavens and a nice lid kept on the hype. We have rattled dublin anytime we've played them.

    Cannot bloody wait

Tbh I was hoping for either a Tyrone win or a Dublin walk in the park. Either are better than Dublin having a proper match and battling through. They look very good but I genuinely think we're also in a better place than we were last year. They've never feared Dublin, so I'm not worried about whether or not we'll give them a game. I think we will.

What weaknesses do you believe the Dubs might have, and that Mayo may be in a position to exploit?

I assume you got the ticket from Dr Micky Loftus.

Just to clarify Dr Micky is a grand uncle to Conor not grandfather.

    (Apologies if I assumed wrong)

The ticket was from Dr. Loftus in 1992.

Oddly enough, and I won`t bore you with the details, that ticket helped Peter Canavan to get into Croke Park that day for the final.

He had no ticket as the Tyrone county board had a deal with Donegal for their allocation, (even though he had captained Tyrone to back to back All Ireland U21 in 1991 & 1992)

My mistake on the linage but far as I`m concerned the lad comes from great stock.

He certainly does. I never met his grand uncle, but I met his Grandfather and Father, both true gents.

There is somthing in the middle to be looked at but difficult to make any worthwhile assessment of play from the match today.

    What do you think?

Tyrone didn't push up on a single Dublin kickout and Dublin had the ball in midfield at their leisure to launch from there. Granted the movement in the forwards is very good but Mayo have a great chance as they will pressure every dublin kickout. I expect it to go right down to the wire. I think mayos patience in the forward line is much better than last year. Both goalies will probably be forced to kick long a lot of the time, I think mayo have an edge in midfield over Dublin. That should tip the balance.
