I'm just really disappointed by her. She's just another blogger now.

Yeah I know, I feel like I can’t trust what she says now. I tried the Penney’s facewipes before and I kid you not, I had to get anti-allergy tablets from the doctor because my face literally broke out in hives and was puffy and red. It was so bad.

Now I don’t know if they changed up their formulas or anything but I will never touch their ‘skincare’

I'm surprised Penneys need that many bloggers to advertise them. It always struck me as a brand that didn't need to do a whole lot in the way of marketing. People flock there because it's cheap. They know by now that Penneys has dupes of most fashion items quickly. They go there anyway and fill their boots.

Did Centra pay them or the charities? It sounded from Pippa's snaps that it was Centra and she works with them anyway.
If it was the charity I totally agree it's tight to take money for sitting on your phone, but when you consider a number of these charity bosses are on 6 figure salaries they don't feel bad about it.
Pippa regularly works with Centra for different campaigns. So I'd imagine it was Centra paying her, not the charity.
I don't follow Faces By Grace, what did she do that warranted her having to #ad?

I tried the Penney’s facewipes too and they just felt harsh on my skin compared to most brands. After a few days I put the rest of the pack into the bin, they didn’t even do a great job at wiping off the remaining make-up left on my face after cleansing anyway. I haven’t kept up with the skin nerd that much but I do find it strange that she would promote Penney’s skincare, even as a cheaper alternative when there are so many other cheap brands that are of much better quality for around the same price point as Penney’s.

Penneys are clever! Did you see the effect "the Pippa star dress" had?! They give clothes or beauty products to bloggers to show or wear once - followers go ape-sh1t over it, they must have it and then as soon as it arrives in stores it is whipped up. Penneys are very good at using social media influencers to create "must haves".

Ya I think it was a big mistake by the Skin Nerd jumping on the Penneys bandwagon it will totally dilute the message she has been trying to spread up to now. I thought she was kind of going to be going down the Caroline Hirons route with her website having cheat sheets for skin types etc but promoting penneys skincare with all your blogger pals is a joke.

People will end up with skin problems from the crap products and then she will be recommending the expensive cosmeceuticals to fix it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,517 ✭✭✭Sunny Dayz

From watching The Skin Nerd's snaps yesterday, I think she was trying to get across the point that she wasn't promoting the Penneys skincare range but rather she was educating people on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

Unless she can stand over the products ingredients and that they are of a high quality for a low price then she's kind of just talking bull. There are some decent more budget ranges (as someone pointed out The Ordinary would have made FAR more sense) but Penneys wouldn't be known for their quality for skincare. I get she wants to be able to recommend products along the price spectrum but the quality needs to be there.

Oh god, educating people seems to be the new blogger buzzword. So sue me used it again last night. She can barely read the names from a bottle but people apparently need tutorials on how to stick on nails.

‘Why would you spend 250/300 every 3month?’ Oh maybe because she was saying it was the holy grail! Can she not understand that because she’s flip flopping, her opinion is not worth much anymore. If her intention is to promote affordable skincare to the masses, then surely she’d be able to talk about the brand The Ordindary? Their products are fab and range from 7-30 odd euro, but they last long enough. It seems to me she’s just delighted to finally get into the #IWorkWithPenneys gang...

She actually doesn't rate The Ordinary. I remember her talking about a while ago that each product they sell is just one ingredient by itself whereas a higher-end serum will contain multiple ingredients in one. She was pushing that people should spend on the high-end stuff instead.

I agree re Lexie and Tea, I've unfollowed her now, I always enjoyed her but can't really take her opinion seriously now as she's starting to be sucked into the "influencer" circle.

Sorry, I think accepting payment from a charity is disgusting, unless your job is with that charity. My God like, if I was in the position to be offered money to attend a charity event, I'd tell them to just donate it and go anyway. I think accepting payment from a charity is so low, that's my opinion and I've always thought this way. It's a horrible thing to do, of course charities have marketing budgets etc, but surely if you are a sound enough person you'd go along for free?

If it was in the marketing budget to pay a guest to attend and it was commonplace to pay a celeb, the only acceptable thing to do would be to take the money and donate it back. Greed of that level is absolutely disgusting.

I'm very disappponted in the skin nerd too. I was going to sign up to her waiting list for a consultation but I don't think I will now.
Also not going to repurchase the cleanse off mitt, I loved my first one but I'm on my second now and realising that a muslin cloth will do the same thing.

Does anyone know if Louise mcsharry is considered an "influencer" now? I saw she was at the Penneys skin care range thing and I just thought to myself ".. why? She's a radio presenter?" I've nothing against the woman at all now, it just struck me as strange. I don't follow her anymore since she had her baby so perhaps she's an influencer now and I just haven't realised

I'm surprised she won't do a piece or a spot of education on The Ordinary products. She's missing out there - I've used a few of their products - some I like, some I'm not fussed about. But one of the main things I've noted about The Ordinary is that there are so many specific products and from following a facebook group about it, a lot of people are unsure what products to use, what products they need or what is suitable for them. She's missing a gig there.

Louise mcsharry writes the beauty colum for one of the papers now I think?

To be honest the 'influencer' thing is just getting out of hand. Andrea Roche has signed Conor McGregor''s sister Aoife to their influencer list now.

Oh the days when you could trust bloggers reviews and opinions. Its all just human marketing now, now one cares as long as there's money going in the bank. They'd sell their granny at this point.

Spot on! Why that girl has been signed by an agency is behond me. She's only famous because of her brother. You don't need any experience in the industry anymore and that's why it has become so saturated with these bloggers and influencers.

so she can brag about all luxury goods she gets gifted or buys off the back of her brothers success.

Andrea Roche...same agency that has Rosie and Grace to name two on her books...and seems to not care one iota if they adhere to regulations or not.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice that she really seems to struggle with reading!

Grace is getting defended on the Galz FB page as usual. "If you don't like it, don't follow!" ..... "she can't do anything right" blah blah blah.

Someone on thy group also said that #spon and #ad mean diff things! Ad is your paid and spon is they just want you to promote something for them but not paid!? Sure there the same bloody thing!!!!
Just shows there are still lots of people that not wise to it all!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,821 ✭✭✭fussyonion

I think it's a bit unfair to say Aoife McGregor is only getting this and that because of her brother.

She owns her own business with her husband and from what I can see is just being supportive travelling to the US to support Conor; what sister wouldn't do that?

The McGregor family are all grafters and are very kind to their local community and I know this for a fact.
The usual Irish begrudgery comes out in force again.

It's impossible to have a constructive discussion on that forum, if it's anything different than what the main group think. They just spam the comments with gifs and gang up like a bunch of hyenas. I'd leave them to it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 370 ✭✭heyjude88

The comments are ridiculous . They are all missing the main point about it being a charity event! Was there other bloggers at it other than Grace? I didn’t see anyone else but the poster in that group says there was. Might be to get people off her back though about Grace.

Also the admins of that group really know how to stir it up. They need to approve posts and I remember one of them sucking up to graces sister. So they chose to approve the post and let the madness commence.

Obviously whoever slagged her off didn't know she was dyslexic for goodness sake
