Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Exciting advertisement for the game compared to the dirge fest that was the Crusaders match.

I'm glad we finally managed to get the kiwis to begrudgingly play some entertaining rugby. Negative bastards

Might Sinckler pinch the starting jersey from Furlong? It has to be said, he has probably had the better tour to date.

Silly from Webb/Best. A rake of players tied into the maul, the back line all set up for a move and they allow the maul to devolve into a ruck with slow ball. All the Highlanders disentangle themselves and take solid defensive positions.

I thought Webb tried to take it from Best a few times but he held on to drive further which just ended in the mess as you described

Might well have been. It's hard to know what's going on without audio and watching on a stream. Ball had to be moved though.

Is it just me or is Warburton anonymous? He was mentioned after about 35 mins by commentator I had forgotten he was playing

Hes putting in a good shift in the tight, being a nuisance so not standing out to take ball to carry. This is a tough game for a backrow forward compared to the crusaders game. Rucks are over in a second and ball continually on the move which makes for an exciting game.
Thought him and Haskell were having a good game, the scrum cap does help to identify Haskell, for me this is a game to bring Tipuric on for a decent stint as he thrives in open games

He did and Best ignored him, even though the maul was going nowhere.

Should have given it the first time of asking.

Tommy Seymour having a really poor tour. Think henshaw is doing well. Might be in the mix depending on whether Farrell plays 10.

Yeah I'd definitely get Tipuric in for one of them. They're both doing their jobs fairly effortlessly but we have room for something different. If Warburton isn't fully fit I'd get him off.

I'd say that is the plan anyway. Get 50 minutes into Warburton's lungs but get him off to have him available for the weekend.

Interesting for Webb to come off so early. Is there still a contest for the 9 jersey?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

Sinckler lucky to stay on the pitch really

Looked like he was carrying a knock, Best had to take over a few times at scrum half there.

    I'm surprised too - he's had a good game.

    Good idea to hook Sinckler

Best off, Owens and George for the test 23 clearly

I wish those inane sky sports commentators would shut the hell up so we can hear the ref actually tell us what's going on...

Thanks. Can't see the Lions winning with Laidlaw on. Best scrum half available to the Lions after Murray and Webb is in Auckland with Wales at the moment.

Good try. Despite two woeful passes from Biggar.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭Kanrith

Nice stuff, Henderson had some great carries there.

Payne did very well to save the situation, some of Biggars passing was poor. Nice try by Warburton in the end

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

That's Warburton definitely in the test side. He probably was anyway but a big moment like that will make sure he's a guaranteed starter.

Biggar couldn't pass water. Payne did ridiculously well to take that and get the Lions moving forward again.

Still worried that lions look a bit toothless out wide. They have the strength to keep battering but they need to develop their outside attack

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

Getting caught offside after defending so well is criminal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

That was brilliant defence by Lions - Highlanders might regret that quick tap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 353 ✭✭gazump123

None of the lions were back 10 from that quick tap.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭Kanrith

    Great defence there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Great kick from Laidlaw. Quality operator.

Yeah, it was Henderson with the big clear out.

    Ruined by AWJ's offside then

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭Kanrith

Sudden onset of poor discipline is costing the Lions here.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 26,403 Mod ✭✭✭✭Peregrine

Is that the first scrum penalty?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

    Bizarre decision there
