Having heard numerous reports from very reliable sources for the last 7/8 years about Muntjac in the North West. Was always surprised to see anyone even mentioning the species here being ridiculed unless photos and video produced.

Video One reported in local news with video yesterday.

Are the rules around hunting muntjac the same as for other deer? i.e calibre requirements, licence etc?

Their on the deer license with a year round season, but the fact thier on the license would indicate that you would still require a deer hunting license with all the prior requirements of calibre and bullet specification etc.

Alright lets not go overboard. From 2009 there have returns of 10, 6, 2, 6, etc been given each year for Muntjac. With everyone and their Granny photographing and documenting their lives on Facebook, Twitter, Sap chat, etc, etc. you have to ask why no one ever posted a single photo, video, even a quick sketch of one of them.

Yes, except their season runs year round.
