It might be worth noting that although the cost is going up and the discount is going down, for €7.90 you'll be getting 10% off a service cost, so if the service was to cost €100 you'll be saving €10, covering the cost of the subscription. Personally, I think the way to go is when you know you'll be due a service and you know you'll be going to a main dealers for it, sign up for the free month (if it's still going) or pay the €7.90, book your service and the cancel it again.

The fact that they'll throw in free wipers should help out as well, I kept onto an old set of wipers and used to put them on when I was booked in for a service when I had the BMW first service, used to ask them to leave the old wipers in the boot, you can only get the wipers once a year.

or just avoid main dealers - go to a good independent specialist and save thousands €€€ :D

Thanks again to all here for advice on this thing since I first butted in. Anyway, rightly or wrongly, I've ended up doing a deal for an Audi A4 instead. Please don't all you BMW owners hate me. :D

For what it's worth, would probably have joined the BMW First for as long as servicing would be done at a main dealer during the two-year warranty. But I'd probably have been back to my regular mechanic after that. I know he handles BMWs (and Audis!) there anyway, and he's always done a good job on anything else my wife or I have ever had him do, so I wouldn't have had any worries there.

Again, thanks all, and happy BMW motoring to you all. I won't be back here, at least not until next time I might be thinking about changing the car!

Yup that's an option also but as been mentioned in this thread, by getting your car serviced in a main dealers gives you some hope of a good will gesture if something goes wrong so sometimes it might cost more but be cheaper in the long term.

This has been discontinued since the start of September, seemingly BMW are bringing out new ‘service package plans’ as a replacement but I haven’t had any details yet

I've been trying to find the BMW First sign up page, seems that it hasn't been replaced at this stage.
