Why are we hating all the men?

Why does it feel like everywhere I look on social media, there's some annoying twat bleating on about men and oppression. I get that this isn't a new phenomenon, but imo it's worse now more than ever. "Feminists" have given themselves authority on male social standing, and I feel they see everything now through a lense of male authority. Everything is sexist, misogynistic, and due to the patriarchy.
And have set the goal posts on what men can and cannot be offended by.

What was once an expression of female humanity, seeking to free itself from male authority and thus promote equality of the sexes- has been transformed into female superiority. And pissing men off seems to now to the bread and butter of femisnism.

Many women, myself included, have had awful experiences with men. Sure, there are men out there who are assholes, and there are women out there who are assholes- assholes don't tend to be gender specific.
I am just so sick of this toxic femisnism- it's everywhere, and it's annoying.

Secured in the notion of a "rape culture" is the stipulation that considers all men to be rapists. I do not want to live in a society which sees my brother, father, and boyfriend as rapists. This rape culture theory disgusts me. Something needs to happen as it's a seriously damaging supposition and one that I do not subscribe to.

But to oppose of such an unfair concept means I'm betraying women apparently, and denouncing my gender. I've been called a Man's Rights Activist because I oppose certain views. I'm not a MRA,(or am I? Who knows) but if I was, is that meant to be an insult? I don't get it. Do men not have rights that need advocating as well? Or is it always just women whom are treated unfairly/oppressed/exploited?

    TLDR: I <3 Men :)

I think it's vastly over exaggerated tbh.

Real life just doesn't seem to be the way boards says it is and other than boards, I barely see it as much as referenced anywhere else. (And that's both sides of the fence btw).

There is a trick here in dealing with this type of angry woman.

If she comes at you with a knife in particular, which can be a frightening experience. What you need to do is maintain composure. Immediately grab some butter, some ham, and some bread. Brown or white, your choice. In will kick her natural instincts and she will make you a sandwich.
Situation defused, but yes, you have to be tactful here, because there is undoubtedly an increasing trend of hatred and violence towards men.

To be fair as.mentionrd below it depends on who you follow, twitter makes it very easy to be in an echo chamber but I am pretty sure both sides of the argument are represented .

Yes it is rampant on social media and some of the msm. I do finds it a bit disturbing how acceptable it seems to be. Men are heavily policed on what they can say but women not so much. In the workplace women can say smutty things without a care in the world but men are very very careful on what they say in the canteen or in the office.

Except that "rape culture" is actually described as a culture which normalises or trivialises sexual assault/rape. It doesn't assume that all men are rapists but aims to point out everyday actions which occur that were once passed off as playful or expected of men and aims to reclassify them since they can be sexually threatening but due to "rape culture" where actually considered normal.

I'd disagree. People are obviously using social media as a sound board from which they project their real world thoughts/theories/complaints.
It's very hard to read the venom that's spluttered across social platforms and then act/suppose that these people dont exist or carry these views into the real world. They do.
And you don't have to follow them to see this sh!t.

Do you see venomous misogyny and misandry everywhere you go? In work? In restaurants? In shopping centres?

Not so much. That's why my post is specifically about social media. Are you saying unless people are out there saying these things in the real world, they don't matter? People can be just as offended by the bile they read online.

I'm aware of what it is- we still don't live in one. Our society doesn't trivialise rape.

Social media gives fcukwits a platform.

    They are in the minority.

Yes there are people who hate men, who hate women, who hate feet. There always will be. But they will always be in a tiny minority (ok maybe not feet).

Instead of being offended by crap posted by fcukwits on social media, put down your phone and go into the real world - where the normal people are. Where real life goes. Where men and women want to fcuk each other and get married and have lots of little babies.

I think it's because no one goes hungry any more and there's not really that much to get worked up over in these times of peace so people just jump on any bandwagon or agenda. You'll see feminism and other causes go out the window pretty quickly if/when war or starvation ever took hold.

Quite an aggressive and unnecessary response. I do live in the real world, whoops, just because you're not offended or even aware of these issues doesn't mean they aren't happening or offensive to other people. But you're entitled to your view.
And you do realise the irony of telling me to go out into the real world with the normal people when we are both here discussing this online :pac:

I think you see extremes on social media that are just representative of the real world.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I wasn't telling you to get off the internet. The internet is great. I work in IT ffs, I love technology. I love the internet!

The women who voice opinions such as all men being rapists are confined to the realms of the internet. The only time Ive heard such ****e spouted in real life was at poetry slams and feminist rallies

ALOT of office based jobs are gynocentric and there is subtle discrimination against men. Seen it many times. Men been discrinimated against based on sex by female bosses and mangers. Its subtle but obvious as a man in that environment Now a case in point a guy mentioning sexism against men to a woman manager by petty women.Simply isnt taken seriously.

But I never said they were representative of the majority?? Ever! I do not think that at all, whatsoever. There are far more well informed, well rounded people out there, thankfully.

Also am I right in thinking you don't live in Ireland anymore? (Prob wrong) Ireland has gone to sh!t with this kind of thing lately. And it's not just exclusive to social media- every newspaper has a columnist spouting this crap every other week

Yeah get out into the real world and speak to arseholes face to face. I don't even answer my front door not my phone unless I know who it is. Having to deal with people at work is enough for me.

That would be fine if it wasn't having real world consequences. If anyone says anything or does anything that can be considered blasphemous by these new cults they do face a very serious fallout. Careers and reputations are left in ruins. Having recovered from religious meddling in education we are now seeing political ideologies impacting higher level education in ways that would have been unthinkable 20 years ago.

When people talk about 'The Illuminati' running the world people laugh or roll their eyes knowingly. When people talk about 'The Patriarchy' running the world people feel afraid to laugh or argue. Ridicule and robust debate are like a social immune system against such paranoid cults and it is worrying that that has not kicked in yet. People now live out their digital lives in echo chambers that only make their beliefs more extreme. I think it is something to worry about.

I think it's very telling that you chose the words: 'it doesn't assume that all men are rapists'. One of the things that the the advocate of the 'rape culture' concept never seems to acknowledge is that the MAJORITY of men do not rape or think it is acceptable! When they say 'we're not saying that ALL men are rapists'' , they should really be saying that 'we acknowledge that MOST men are not rapists or think it's acceptable'! But to do that would be to debunk their own argument and expose their own dishonesty because we all know that the word 'culture', by definition, implies a generalisation of a group of people, their customs, attitudes and beliefs!

No no it actually does assume all men are rapists and goes as far as reclassifying incidents after the fact as rape.

There was some fairly strong media articles and crap coming from the rape crisis centre for some time which would imply every man out there was a rapist.

Let's not forget the recent thread where a certain blogger who didn't want an uncomfortable argument so may have let herself been raped.

Indeed most papers have one which is why I find it funny when you have people trying to rewrite what it actually means.

The ongoing attacks on the men of Ireland the forced consent classes and other crap in the media. Quite insulting.
