I like a 7up now and again but had a can of Sprite earlier instead. Vile stuff, do people actually like it?

Neither, I find both very bland.

Ah it ain't so bad... I like to dicky my sprite up with a couple of bottles of Benyln cough syrup and a couple of Jolly Rancher sweets. It makes for a really invigorating drank.

Are they not exactly the same thing?

Sure 7up can cure everything, upset stomach, aids, Ebola. Magic stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,400 ✭✭✭me_irl

    Neither.

I just eat a bowl of sugar with a the juice of half a lemon and a lime squeezed in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,008 ✭✭✭✭Zebra3

Given a choice, 7up. Spirite is just Coca-Cola's poor attempt at getting a market share.

Though having seen the documentary recently on C4 about Coca-Cola and the amount of sugar in those small bottles, my ever so small amount of soft drinks I used to drink is now almost zilch.

All rubbish. I can get a sugar hang-over from either of them that is as bad as an alcohol one. Why would you want all that sugar, have a glass of water!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,421 ✭✭✭✭rob316

great. the "there's too much sugar" brigade are here. I asked which one do you prefer not about the sugar content.

I drink water I'm better than you

    7up, it's not close.

    Sprite is awful.

Water contains trace amounts of heavy metals, its basically weak poison.

I only drink Matcha green tea prepared with demineralised water and leaves from Mt Toyomi.

Served in fairtrade, sustainable, and undyed ceramics.

Its really the only safe thing to drink.

I don't mind either but that said neither would ever be my first choice. I don't notice a massive difference between them to honest but I barely ever drink them, more of a Pepsi Max guy.

Innocent Bubbles? I don't think you could claim that.
Bubbles lost his innocence a long time ago. I made sure of that.

    Wash your mouth out please.

Sprite is Coca Colas answer to 7-up.
Sprite was first introduced in Germany in the 60s so even though Germn origin it doesn't have quiet the nazi connotations of that other German coca cola product Fanta.

Sprite is vile a bit like the products manufacturer.

I actually do like Fanta, maybe it's the inner nazi. :o

Ah but isn't bad for you and shouldn't you just drink water, cycle a bike and wear clothes knitted by a hippy and made from hemp.

I am not allowed discuss …

Noooo. I loved it. I also love 7up Free, but it's next to impossible to get in some places in continental Europe, except in overpriced American store places. Not a hope of getting some of that sweet, sweet 7up Mojito.

I actually work for the manufacturers of 7-up. I get a free slab of cans every month. Well, most months, sometimes it's a big box of Walkers crisps. We have a choice of 7-up, 7-up free, Pepsi or Pepsi Max. I mostly give away the slabs and those I offer them to always ask for 7-up.

Sure 7up can cure everything, upset stomach, aids, Ebola. Magic stuff.

Only if you stir the fizz out of it and serve it at room temperature.

Lidl's Freeway Lemon & Lime, less than half the price of Sprite and 7up and essentially the same thing. Aldi's Lemon and Lime is not all nice however.

Sprite tends to hold the carbonation for longer so you'll get a few more days out of her

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,045 ✭✭✭✭gramar

7up has proper bubbles, the kind that get you right in the back of throat as you glug it down. It is a proper full bodied carbonated soft drink. Sprite is some sort of glucosy sugary water that should only be administered when somebody has fainted from hypoglycemia.

A car and a shopping trolley are essentially the same thing. They both have four wheels and can be steered but I know which one I'll jump into when I want to drive home.
