Was about to order a new Virgin Media Sim (the 5 Euro sim only offer) but thought I'd check if anyone uses Virgin with their OP5 or if any of the 5T users have tried Virgin SIM in the phone? Should be fine - but just checking

Nope but never heard of problems with any Irish sims on opo phones

I've mine in, no issues, just have to set up the apn settings as normal and it works right away

Brilliant thanks guys - so thats how I shall pay for this phone, reducing my bill to €5 a month on Virgin :P

Will the Virgin sim give 4g coverage? Also a handy cable to consider is a Type-C to USB OTG adapter. It allows you to connect your U disk flash, drive, keyboard, mouse,or other standard USB devices to a one+

Anyone finding the vibration really loud?! Particularly on keyboard presses...

You can adjust it. Settings, Sound and Vibration, Vibration Intensity

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,115 ✭✭✭Pacifico

Yeah have it set to light...but still fairly loud!

Phone is so close to really great! Screen is fantastic and so is battery life (33% left with 5h 10min OST!)

Still I find the camera a disappointment. Detail in pictures are bad and look more like paintings then photos!

Not sure if I'll send it back or hold out for an update

Hopefully an update will improve the camera. I think maybe they neglected the software side of things eg lack of oreo and camera in order to catch the bezelless wave.

Couldn't figure out why the ambient display sometimes shows a red digit. Pretty obvious really - when the time features a one!

Yea it's fairly annoying and setting the intensity lower doesn't seem to do much.

Must say I'm disappointed in the sound. The single speaker (at the bottom) is very tinny and nowhere near as good as the HTC One M8 I've given up for the Oneplus. When watching videos without headphones it's distracting that the (tinny) sound is coming from one side only.

That's a pretty big problem for me. I'll see if I get used to it.

In fairness to oneplus pretty much all bezel less phones have problems in the speaker area - in my opinion the 5 has better sound than the S8. Your M8 has lots of space for speakers due to large forehead & chin.

Camera on the OP5 had not improved much since launch. Similar issues with smearing/painting effect in pictures in some tones and lighting, desperate panorama mode, etc. The only thing that I am not 100% happy with on the phone.

I guess the camera is really what distinguishes high end phones from mid rangers these days.

From what I can tell, the camera hardware is capable of better but the software processing is overly aggressive

Good camera software doesn't come cheap! Also might have something to do with it's OPPO roots - heavy photo processing seems to be more popular in Asia.

Google pixel 2 cam software works with it. Helps many phones take better snaps.

Also, the phone is out a wet weekend, for pic's at least give it some update time... but no, it wont be ever a GS8 or even GS7

Wonder if anyone can help. Trying to force 4g on Vodafone. When I choose the LTE only option I get 4g the whole time but cannot make calls. Some of the other preferred network types and I can't receive calls. What should be the best set up

First off, do you have a 4G sim? If not then you'd need to go on a plan that gives you 4G. Otherwise, normally selecting automatic selection with 4G/LTE-preferred does the trick. You may not always have a 4G network available so it's best not to force LTE only.

If problems persist, check with Vodafone and see if there's anything wrong with how your profile is provisioned

Any news on when the 5t will receive Oreo?

Yeah they don't expire, but the person will get double referral points if you buy it before the 30th ;)

Is it just me or are all the icons missing a notification marker? ...If I get a message it shows in the notification dropdown, but there is no 'badge' on the Messages icon. I'm not certain but I _think_ it's the same for Viber and Whatsapp.

I remember setting an extra modify permission to allow Nova Launcher show these, but I can't find the option for Oneplus Launcher. ?

Don't forget there's a dedicated thread for these - it's slipped off the main page though.
