P11 so. And a very good car at that. I owned one myself (my second ever car), an early 90s 1.6SLX hatchback

If your car is in good condition, it has every chance of becoming a classic. If you can, hold onto it. Although your car is far too new to qualify for classic motor tax for a long time yet.

Insurance ain't an issue as trade but just looks bad having these sitting around and trying to get money together for mortgage.

It's the standard 1.6 alloys a/c, electric win, actually great shape inside body plenty of marks so in no way mint out there.

Cheap car though and they are great only for sh1t gearboxes like the Almera.

Been following this thread for a while because I'm looking for a car. That's exactly the type I'm looking for. But €895. Would that indicate something wrong with it?

Hard to know really without going to see it. They have plenty of common issues. It was awfully cheap, but Vectras aren't particularly sought after especially with 200+ thousand miles.

And taxed till the end of March! I'm not sure he'll accept €2k, but buy it now and sell in late spring (advertise it on a warm sunny day) and you're bound to get every cent back for it. Almost free motoring

That A4 is a nice find ven if not strictly bangernomics

I'd say they are the best 4 seat cabriolet on the market for less than 5 grand.

Now that’s bangernomics!!... tax disc is worth 300 alone,... drive it for a few months and get 100 scrap for it if you can’t shift it.

It's a bonus that's a manual. I'd stay well away from the multichronic with that engine.

Not my favorite yokes but would be a shame to scrap that.

No the Volvo estate from a few pages back wins it so far for me.

looks ok condition, but it is dated looking,
I think Id prefer the corrolla, although that has 188k miles on it not km, but both could be a good interim option for someone on the lookout for something better.

It's not the looks, but safety that's the issue. Felicia - a heavily modified Favorit - was old already at the launch.
Volvo's did age, but will be tens of years ahead of it in terms of safety. I think even a Volvo 2xx from 80-ties would be better...

The corolla will be away more pleasant to drive anyway and probably easier on fuel too

The rule for putting something on adverts is to nearly double the price. That's to allow for the crazy low ball offers and half eaten bars of chocolat that you will get :D

I got new car and I am looking to get rid of my old but very reliable 2001 Golf 1.4 Petrol.

I bought it about 4 years ago and haven't given me a single trouble (But have to upgrade due to being shafted by insurance due to age of car).

All I can say about it is:
*It has 177k miles on it.
*It's well banged up, has massive dinosaur claw tear on left side and front bumper is 1 bump away from falling off.
*Tax is up next week and so is the NCT.
*Last year failed dangerously NCT due to leaking brake pipes so had it towed (bonus pic: https://i.imgur.com/OpCx4vJ.jpg )
*Never failed on engine as engine is in pretty good condition.
*Electronics are ****ed up, always says it's freezing outside also battery icon is coming up when trying to accelerate so I guess spark plugs and/or alternator are ****ed up.

What would be best way to get rid of it and (preferably) get some cash?

Bit of a contradiction there. Anyway id say scrapping it would be the easiest way or else try selling it on dd for small money.
