It exists because the feckers created "scarcity" by limiting licencing hours. Let them sell it 24/7. Give it 2 weeks, the "scarcity" idea will be dead and viola - we'll be like everywhere else. Because oddly, us Irish aren't "special". We're the same as the rest of the world. Create "scarcity" and an "ohh..don't look at the bad stuff" attitude and it creates demand. Knock off that crap and you get a mature clientele. "If you love them, set them free" - only in this case, for pints. It works. Mad as it sounds.

This is rubbish. Other countries have liberal laws because they have a conservative drinking culture. If we had opening time to 2am then people would drink from 6-2am rather than 6-11pm.

You never know what's round the corner. Just look at the smoking ban which many people said would never happen.

Already easily disproved. The native Paddy can be seen continuing to binge drink when abroad in countries that have more relaxed licencing hours.

See Bondi Junction, Canary Islands, Tenerife, house parties etc as proof.

We have a 'culture' (if you could call it that) of getting as drunk as we can. We don't drink to enjoy ourselves. The last thing we need is even more walking dead style drunks, they're bad enough as it is.

The blame for these drunken louts rests on our justice system, week in week out we see courts dealing very lightly with anti-social behaviour and it's the same fools up in court all the time with the 'he comes from a decent family' or ' he had one too many on the night' bull**** excuses, we live in a society of drunken thugs who ruin it for everyone else

I can't imagine local residents would be in favour of it. The drunken loutish behaviour of people has already ruined town & city centres at night. People would be worried this would just drag out the precession of drunken morons shouting and roaring there way home at night.

One of the issues now is that you have large numbers of people leaving multiple pubs/clubs at the same time.
Also ever notice how people often buy 2 drinks and maybe a shot just before a bar stops serving and then they knock them back in 30 mins before they get kicked out. Most don't do crap like that when at a house party or abroad.
