Relationships are hard work, OP, and very few sail through life with no bumps or problems. All too often people's advice is to finish it and move on when very often relationship problems can be worked through with communication and a bit of work.

There will always be problems in relationships. Always. So if the advice is always to walk away people will just spend their lives hopping from one to the other. Sometimes the only option is to walk away. And if there are continuous problems and drama in the early stages, possibly it's best to walk away!! But an established relationship that's overall good isn't something to just dump so quickly.

I'm happy for you that you have acknowledged your own problems and are working on them. As you said, it's for you and not anyone else that you are doing this. Good luck to you. I think you have the basis of a very strong relationship.

Best of luck OP. Maybe in hindsight this temporary break could be the best thing that ever happened to the pair of you. It did look like you weren't communicating as well as you could've done. This blow-out got you talking and hopefully put you on the same page. I hope it works out for you - I like to see a happy ending :)
