Yeah I love the 8bitdo controllers. Have them all except the snes one which is on its way from Amazon. Solid controllers. All real on Amazon. My favorite is the arcade fc30 pro stick. God it last year on play Asia for €80. Worth every penny.

I use them with the retropie. Great that you can use them on the switch now. You can defo use them on the Wii, and, I think, on the WiiU.

    Buy them all! :)

    I just ordered one now,
Looking forward to giving it a whirl.
Seems to me that, as long as Nintendo don't patch them out, this is a cost effective way to get that extra controller without paying the pretty large sum for the Switch Pro controller.
I understand that HD Rumble and motion controls will be missing, but I don't use the latter and the former is of little interest tbh.

Please explain why you want to give them your money ?
I really wanna hear you argue a case for buying from GAMESTOP as opposed to Amazon or somewhere else who aren't trying to squeeze you for every penny.

3 main reasons, as touched on above:

    1. Jobs - the staff in my local GS are great, even if they are forced to try to sell me insurance etc.

    2. Getting it straight away, not waiting for post

    3. Most important, I like browsing in game shops. I do. I even buy the odd Zelda glass or other bit of tat they have now. What else am I supposed to do if I find myself in a shopping centre and herself decides it's time for a browse in Debenhams?

I don't mind buying in Gamestop. I like getting games Day 1 and they're the only shop near me. There's an Argos but they don't get every game in, especially stuff like Little Nightmares. I realise that they're overpriced but I'm from the Midlands and shops down here are dying a slow death. It's a miracle that we still have a place that sells games at all. I'm happy to pay a little over the top if it means having access to a bricks and mortar store with friendly staff that want to talk about games every time I'm there.

I hate Gamestop as much as the next guy, but that is a legit reason to be fair.

Any good some good value links to the devices??

I've the SFC30 (as it doesn't have the dull looking American colour scheme), and I've just ordered this one, for games that need analogue controls:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B013B61SCS/

Great controllers, the SFC30 feels just as good as the original controllers IMHO.

Also ordered the SNES adapter, so I can use my SFC30 on my SNES!

Mine ended up being free! Ordered from Ali Express and took so long to be delivered that they had refunded me (they assumed it was lost). Showed up about 2 weeks later!

It definitely seems to be the real deal too and not a knock off.

Pretty sure that the Joycon are just Bluetooth, so I'm sure the 8bit do will work, if Nintendo's zap them in a FW update is what I would be wary of...

Cant see how they can do that...

Does the DS4 work? Or even the V2 DS4

I'd consider using one on Zelda if it was possible

I go where the value is.
    Simple as that.
If Argos have it, Smyth's, Gamestop, and I must have it now, I'll buy in one of those places.
I find Gamestop increasingly uncomfortable to browse in, with the assumption that the man in his forties with a grey beard, browsing all the games sections must, therefore, be on the cusp of dementia and not know where he is, so along comes an over eager minion to offer assistance

Just tell them you're all gonna die in a pointless war while I'm holed up in my secret cider lair ironicly playing Defcon 4.

Me I'll be in bandit land playing chrono trigger laughing at the denied conscription papers, its good to be loco sometimes.

Smyth's as of right now are €45 for Street Fighter, not Stocking Disgaea V

Argos no confirmed prices on either but they should be stocking both. Hope no repeat of the Mario kart €63 debacle.

Playing Mario Kart with the NES30 Pro has been a struggle in all honesty. Maybe it will just take some getting used to but I had no such issues with the Pro Controller.

Apparently Capcom have said that how they support Nintendo switch rests on how well USF2 sells.

**** off Capcom, what an idiotic line of thinking.
A new interview with the CEO of Capcom

    http://toyokeizai.net/articles/-/173037

General points (talks about current title/old IP/Mobile/esports/Switch):
    RE7/MHXX underperformed
Capcom were too cautious in sending retail stores units of RE7 at first causing the title to have problems growing
Some users were encountering difficulties with the download version of MHXX which he believes turned off other customers from buying the game
Users are happy with the quality of both RE7/MHXX and sales have been good for the current fiscal quarter
Talks about the the strengths of selling games and other services via digital stores like PSN
Capcom categories the strengths of these digital stores for them into two seperate categories; moving old titles to current gen machines and selling them digitally, and data on users which can be used to strengthen their marketing department sincelots of stats like how many people are playing the game or how many people reach the ending
Good year for the traditional video game industry with additional shipments of PSVR, Nintendo Switch, and Project Scorpio all out this year
Uses his own primary school daughter as an example of a child who never wanted a home console before but wants a Switch
The important thing regarding Switch for software makers is what they users want
Cites the DS/Wii as examples of hardware with explosive hardware sales that at the start of their cycles did well thanks to Nintendo showing others how to make games fitting of the hardware, while third parties originally struggled on these platforms and didn't sell very well
Capcom aims to develop many different things for different hardware and is currently researching
In regards to Switch, Capcom will think of how to support the Switch while looking at how Street Fighter 2 does on the system in May
Asked about resurrecting old I.P by the interviewer after talking about the recent announcement of Capcom vs Marvel
Capcom wants to resurrect old I.P, but doing so makes many problems crop up
One of these problems is that they don't have enough people
The lack of people is due to the fast advancement of tech making every title require more people than ever
Also the development of their current I.P and new I.P means they have even less time to bring back old titles
In regards to their lack of success in the mobile game sector, he notes that their titles are interesting and people are playing them
They are not making profits due to their lack of in app purchases
Capcom hopes to partner with our businesses who have had success in the mobile sector in order to cover for their weaknesses in the mobile sector and make more money
Talks about E-sports around the world and how it is producing pro gamers
Notes their own companies Street Fighter 5
Notes the strict laws in Japan that make giving large pools of prize money at e-sporting events not possible

Support won't be dropped completely but the types of games they do port across could be a result of sales from street fighter. Still expecting monster hunter, obviously.

    Morons.

However after Eurogamer's scathing review yesterday, I'm surprised to see that it currently has a rating of 67 on Metacritic.

The price point won't help sales though.

And, how exactly to Gamestop give "infinitely more" than Amazon?

I'm sure that works out well for you, as I play... eventually, the €15 copy of CoD:IW I bought for my PS4 from Amazon the other week, with extras, while Gamestop are charging €30 for the same game.

Amazon give you zero for trade ins. If GameStop give you .01c, it's still infinitely more.

I'm not sure what is supposed to work out well for me, but sure, why not?

I expect no less from Crapcom.

Sounds like a repeat of EA after Mass Effect 3 sold poorly on Wii U. Oblivious to the many reasons for this happening

Don't price a game that is about 17 years old at 45 quid then you lemon's - if it was 15 quid I would have it and all by now....

They are out of their minds

Jesus the Eurogamer review is pretty harsh.

It's a little weird to see the guy outright state his opinions as facts: Old art is best and new art is awful. Also strange to see him say the new art animations are janky and terrible when the animations are identical and unchanged (just the art is different).

I'm always a little cautious of reviews that reek of "MY OPINION IS GOSPEL OMG".

It is strange to read though that this game undoes the Sirlin rebalance of HD Remix and does a SECOND different rebalance of Super Turbo?

So rather than this being the 7th version of SF2, it's an alternate reboot of the 5th version? Bloody hell.

What's weirdest about this is seeing no rebalance notes from capcom, who are usually pretty open about these kinds of things. Putting in the ability to tech throws rather than soften is already a crazy big change. I wonder what else they did outside of the new characters.

I don't trade stuff in with Gamestop anymore, haven't in a while.
On occasion I've brought things to CEX, as they give much better trade values and tend to have something worth having in return, though pre-owned.

I think the low numbers paid out by Gamestop and their high prices quoted for new titles often make buying there even with a trade a poor deal and, in terms of value, I am better off buying new games cheaper elsewhere and making that trade with CEX for something else.
Often, as a result, I'm €10 down but I've now got two games.

But, it's up to individual subjective experience, so if you enjoy GS good stuff!

Sadly, I remember significantly better times in the shop, and before, so it's just disappointment when I walk in and see walls of crap instead of games.
Imagine me thinking that Gamestop would be mostly about games.
They should change their name to "Tatt-stop"

Yeah it's harsh and a little self-aggrandising , but it's a common theme especially in the negative reviews - ignoring that SFII is still a great game and shining a spotlight on whether you should pay this kind of money for it. With reviews like that focussing almost exclusively on the age of the core experience, the asking price and how little value it offers for the money, and pretty much ignoring whether the game plays well on the Switch, at least if it fails there should be no doubt in the Capcom camp why it happened?

From other reviews, it does sound like Joycons are not well suited to it though. And where is the "charismatic rooster" that Hobby Consoles are going on about?

    Someone say Charismatic Rooster?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Hopefully it sells well regardless though, just to get Capcom on board with other titles. Bomberman has been a big success for Konami so hopefully it will be as well for Capcom, despite their lazy policies. Curiously it's the current top selling game on Amazon France, it's also a lower price on there at €30 + postage, although the right price is lower than that.

Quite the charismatic rooster here, NSFW.

I think you're confusing me with the original poster who said that. I simply gave reasons as to why you would shop in GameStop.

    That's ok

    I get confused a lot....

Become a Cat Mod, lose your marbles.... pretty much a guarantee....

    I treat GS like a Man-creche
When the better half has "things to do" in the mall, Cidonalad and myself go rooting around in GS, finding the occasion mispriced beauty in the mix, or the bargain, like Bravely Second big box version for feck all.

It seems the comments from Capcom were a bit mistranslated and they didn't say they were basing their Switch outlook just on Ultra Street Fighter. The sales of Street Fighter aren't mentioned at all in the updated translation, they just say they will be launching it.
