The 2008 Lhd sl350 is more of a bargain saw it in flesh and it looks really good.
Hope this thread proves popular . Whenever I get back home to dublin love bringing the old man out to howth for a spin and popping into beshoffs for a look. Very friendly. I have created a post on them in best ' if Carlsberg did used car dealers '

Something fishy about that car. A lot of chips on the paint.

strange car for Beshoffs to sell, must be one of the cheapest ever ways into the ' Beshoff' club , saw a nice early MGF the other day , know they would not be as reliable but a lot more interesting . It was a burnt orange colour.

regarding Beshoffs , think site beside them is due for development , wonder will it effect Beshoffs ? They would struggle to find another site in area.

Jeremy is a decent enough chap and normally just gives you the keys if he knows you.
Only bad thing I can say about him is sometimes it takes while to get him and even longer to get him to return your calls.
Must about bought 5 cars from him over the years, always has a decent stock listing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,700 ✭✭✭goochy

seems to have some foreign guy also selling cars with him.

Bought an e60 5 series there a few years ago... any time I am interested in swapping cars I browse over what they have in stock. Very good service when I bought.

I like the way I can bring the old man out for a Sunday drive and get my car fix also - no problem browsing the forecourt.

It is though planning is stalled in the High Court and if granted they will have to move and they sure will have a tough time finding a site so suited to their market.

Bought my 911 cabrio off Jeremy too. Fair to deal with, car was presented well. No issues. ...was actually looking at his stock again this week......hmmmm

Sundays in Howth wont be the same if he has to move from there , though his premises are not his strongest point.

Carzone has 16 Boxsters and 36 SLKs for sale, definately common as muck but there must be great money in hairdressing.

    Tired old cliche me thinks.

Wonder what the future holds for them, the site they are on is approved for planning for a large apartment complex, hopefully they can locate somewhere nearby.

    That M4 is a beauty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,700 ✭✭✭goochy

the 2016 S500 AMG coupe is a beauty , while their stock is impressive - not quite as many really interesting stuff as usual. Hard to see them being able to get anywhere close to Howth . So likely be near Airport.

Or the Tom Walsh site maybe? ;)

no far too fancy me thinks , they are keen on priceing so will want to keep overheads low.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,700 ✭✭✭goochy

Galway TT , did you trade in the 911 ? see they have one for sale now - looks well.
    what you buy ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 645 ✭✭✭Killer K

Would I be correct in saying most of their stock would be high spec uk imports?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,700 ✭✭✭goochy

Seem to be a mix of Irish and UK at present . If you see in end of their ads they often say dublin reg. Assume everything else is imported.
they currently have a nice 2010 Aston rapide saloon for just under 100k, the fact it was built in Austria by steyr magna does take away from its character somewhat.

more then likely i would think from who ive seen in and out of there a few times in last 2 or 3 weeks

they tend to operate on a low cost model and that would not suit that but suppose they could add small bit on to price of each car to cover that - security would want to be good as its near some not so great areas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 645 ✭✭✭Killer K

I wouldn't imagine that security would be a significant concern (not significantly more than the current location).

It is also a good location given the amount of passing traffic and prominence of the site.

    Called to be beshoffs recently.
Didn't like the look of the place at all. It was absolutely packed. Nowhere for customers to park, not the space for a single car on site.
I was just disappointed versus the online image they portray.
That said, even some main dealers are squashed into little sites.
I guess I'm spoiled being from the country where all good dealers are sitting on huge sites.

A nicer premises but a real step down in terms of location and its prestige.

How were you treated when you were there though?
Their stock looks well presented and by most accounts they are very good to deal with.

Ya no issue. Asked about a specific car, was given the keys to have a look. Car looked fine but spec didn't do it for me.

All the photos are taken across the road on the grounds of howth castle so there is going to be a mismatch between what it actually looks like on their premises which is a small lot. It’s going to be apartments soon anyway.

They should be able to do a lot more when they move to the old grange road motors fourcourt in Baldoyle.

I went to view a car there maybe 18 months back that was clearly still being used as a daily driver, which they'd made no attempt to hide. It was fairly dirty, inside and out. I think there was even mud stains on the rear seats. The salesman said very little the whole time and appeared to care little about actually selling the car to me. I found the whole experience fairly odd tbh. I'd had it in my mind to see where haggling would get me (it was fairly overpriced to begin with), but after the test drive I just got the fúck out of there.

That’s because Beshoffs act as middle men. You can give them your car and they will sell it under their brand and pay you once sold. Obviously taking a lump of the price in the process.

Well if they want to offer that, there is no point in offering an unprepared car. Surely a car owner would leave the car with them to sell and not just drop it off when there is an enquiry.
I probably would buy from them however that is mostly based on what I've learned here.... If I'd never heard of them, from what I saw on site, I would have been turning around and leaving. Cars packed into yard, a strange feeling show room that looked and felt like they were just moving in, garage workers appeared to not speak English.
