Escorts?

Hi all. So here is a question. Is prostitution in Ireland illegal? I came across escorts Ireland website but I don't know if it is illegal in Ireland or not so I'm afraid of arranging a meeting.

I read somewhere earlier today that a law was passed which made it illegal to pay for sex so I really wanted to clarify this for myself. Thank you.

I believe it's illegal, but not really policed.

Girls don't pay tax anyway. Really it should be legal a lot of money is spent on it in this country. I don't care what someone does to get their jollies, but why am I paying tax every year on my income and these girls aren't.

300 quid for a 22 year old escort here. And she's yours to keep forever for that. 100% legal and above board. Just remember to keep her well oiled.

I dunno tbh I read on some places its not illegal to pay for sex but illegal to set up brothels etc....

So don't know if the website escort Ireland is legit or no.

The site specifically says that you pay for the company and not for sex. It's using a loophole in the law.

It is legit, read the reviews of a chosen girl.

I was ready to buy but it was more expensive at 310, thanks for getting my hopes up.

Yeah I suppose. But I was watching some documentary a while back where cops set up as escorts on websites would lure men in. This was in America by the way.

So I thought what if this site is set up by the cops or something.

That's dollars. Only 282 in Euro if you can get a decent broker and low commission.

As a famous man once said:
The big difference between sex for money and sex for free is that sex for money usually costs a lot less.

Oh I dunno if that old cliche holds true in a modern world. I think many - if not most - of us are essentially breaking even in the end. With what we put into the relationship being balanced by what they put into the relationship.

The cliche seems to be based on the archaic model of men earning all the money and doing all the wooing and gift buying.

As for "today" - it is one of those festivals we simply ignore thankfully.

Always been tempted to try going to an escort just once. We often talk about sex work on boards but I suspect few of the people talking about it have ever actually purchased or sold anything in that industry. Be nice to know what we are talking about. Just for - you know - research purposes of course.

    thats 100%

theres laws being drafted at the moment that will make it illegal to pay for sex even on a 1 to 1 basis outside of an organised brothel, but they are not yet in force.

BTW, not the first time this topic has come up.

I've thought about using that site too, but ultimately it would just be a bit sad and awkward, if I have sex I would like it to be with someone who likes me, with a bit of genuine passion. Having said that, there are definitely girls on the site that tempt me, a lot. But when you think about the mechanics of actually going through it(getting a bunch of cash from an atm, traipsing to some random apartment, having to have a shower, handing over money, having a time limit), it kind of kills the mood.

As for legality, my understanding is that it's fine in this country. The only illegal thing is running a brothel/being a pimp. Individuals selling and buying sex is fine. At least for now- almost certainly the law will be changed soon.

How anyone could even contemplate using a prostitute in Ireland I don't know. That escort ireland site is disgusting. The women are rated for their attractiveness and their value for money. All the women on the site are from impoverished Eastern European countries and are obviously pretty desperate for money. If that turns you on then it's pretty pathetic and doesn't bode well for a fulfilling sex life with women in the rest of your life.

Don't think I could avail of prostitution (100% legal where I am). The creepiness/seediness of the whole thing doesn't appeal to me. There's a strong part of my subconscious that screams at me "Don't you ****ing pay for it ****!" as well. No issue with people that do but I wouldn't. Also, there's probably a decent percentage of the lads that I wouldn't want to share a pack of biscuits with never mind a woman.

That's a very blinkered view of it tbh. For one thing, even if those women were originally "hard up" for cash, they certainly aren't any more after spending some time working in Ireland.
Also, what did you expect from a site providing information about escorts? They see themselves as professionals providing a service to a paying client. It's not a dating site. Many/most of them are quite happy to be rated and reviewed because it will attract more clients to them.

As for the final point you made, it's probably the lack of a fulfilling sex life with their wives that has these men using these services in the first place. That's not to condone or excuse the practice, but lets not live in a fantasy land where all men who pay for sex are hopeless, antisocial virgins who can't relate to "real" women. Get up the yard!

Just had a look through it there (better delete the browsing history) and it seems to be a mix with a lot of Irish, English and Mainland Europe with south America and eastern Europe. Some of them charge huge money so I'd say they aren't short of business or money!

No matter how many laws they try with this one, it will never go away. I think it's unfair to point the finger at men for this one, it takes 2. As long as it's not forced and no one is being hurt, it's just something we have to accept will always happen. You'd be pretty naive to think otherwise!

I'd be in favour of legalisation because it's way worse when it's illegal. But I think there needs to some caution and support in place for people that go into that line of work. It would be easy for a person to become dependant on this big money coming in to the point that temporary job becomes more and more difficult to leave. It's often a job for the young and beautiful neither of which will last, so people in this line of work could end up either leaving the profession with no alternative skills, or descending into the weirder parts of the industry because they're finding it harder to attract normal clients.

Why Ireland specifically? Is there significant differences between how it works here than other countries that you are basing this on?
    panda100 wrote: »

What is disgusting about that? When people offer a product or service - it is entirely common that users of that product or service rate their experience.

You get it on amazon - you get it in magazines that review gigs - albums - or movies. You get it on things like Yelp - where you have customers rating their experience and value for money with restaurants. Or on booking.com for hotels. There are even sites rating the service offered - and the friendliness and other attributes - of GP doctors.

What is it about sex workers - specifically - you feel should make them exempt from a process just about every other product and service provider has to subject themselves to? Why are you elevating one profession over all others for special privileges?
    panda100 wrote: »

Well that is a demonstrable falsehood right off the bat. I just went to the site and in less than 5 minutes I had a selection of Irish women I could choose from. Then leaving Irish _and_ Eastern EU out of it I found a selection of french, spanish and german women.

And I just checked a site from other countries too. One German site for example ladies.de matches this. There is a selection of all nationalities there - local and foreign.

Perhaps you left the site in disgust so fast - you forgot to check the truthfullness of the claims you wanted to make about it?
    panda100 wrote: »

Why not? You seem to think that sex and sexuality is a constant across a persons entire life rather than - as it actually is - highly contextual. Sex is not one thing - but can be different things in different contexts. Sometimes we want a Michelan start 5 course meal - sometimes we want a Mcdonalds. Similarly sometimes we want sex with emotional and romantic deep connections - and sometimes we want lustful animal rutting. And sometimes we seek those disparate things from the _same person_ even.

So what affects one sexuality in one context bodes nothing at all for any other context. And the ability to find sexual satisfaction in an encounter with a sex worker - holds no implications for a persons long term sexual life in another context.

Depends what you mean by "safe" I guess. Amazon and Ebay are seen by many as "safe". But there have been people conned and tricked on them with bad deals and fraudsters and the like. The same with things like Air B+B for example.

So overall it seems to be relatively "safe" - but I would be surprised if there was no horror stories.

I read this article on irishtimes so it means that the law is now in action?
Legislation which criminalises the purchaser of sexual services rather than the seller has been passed in the Dáil by 94 votes to six.

Or it has just been passed but not yet into action?

I was parroting someone else on this thread who said that paying a prostitute was just like paying one's wife/girlfriend, except the latter charged more. Maybe you could address that question to them.

Not sure what you mean by legit.  The website is authentic and the escorts are real.  Afaik, prostitution is still not illegal in this country, though solicitation (asking for sex for money or offering sex for money) is, as well as running a brothel..  I'm open to being corrected on that.  There is/was a campaign to outlaw prostitution and criminalise the punters.  You also see Gardai sting operations every now and again with punters being named and shamed in the newspapers.  The Gardai are also targeting that site, under the guise of 'benefiting from prostitution'.  I think what's saving it for now is it's based off shore (England, iirc).

There are male escorts catering exclusively to females in Australia (I know this from an article I read) so I don't see it as impossible. Definitely some lesbians pay for sex with women too.
