    Stephen Donaldson fits the bill for a little while yet. (As in The Gap is being adapted for the screen.)

    Is he known for fantasy specifically?
    For example Donaldson is well known for both science fiction and fantasy series (and is lesser known for crime fiction). Feist is known specifically for fantasy on the other hand.
