It's your tyres, not the ABS.

Nah, it's the ABS as well. ABS is ****e with fresh snow, (but it keeps everything in a straight line)

That tyre hasn't been made in years and has been replaced 3 times over by the asymmetric models.

Cool, just saying that's what the previous poster was talking about.

Don't be so bloody pedantic! if your so clued up on how many times it's been superceded then you are also well aware of the tyre I meant and that I was only referring to the thread pattern on it.

Switching off ABS definitely won't make your car stop any quicker, or in a shorter distance.

It will on snow or gravel. Audi used to fit an ABS switch in the 80s for this very reason.

...only on deep snow or deep gravel where the locked wheel digs in and builds up a dam of material in front of it.

Newer cars (with more complex ABS systems) should first release the brakes, then realise that the car is stopping no more quickly, and reapply the brakes.

Of course the car will then try the same again in order to maintain steering, but it should mean that for gravel, the brakes will stay locked for more of the time than they would on a wet road for example.

    Wrong.

Both GSD3 and asymmetric are still in stock.

Old stock you can be sure. People will go for the new versions when buying so if they had a decent stock GDS3 it could take many years to sell it off.
