Coming to a dead stop in the middle of the road to let a car out.

you'll generally find that such cars won't attempt an overtake if you drop your speed a little, as they'll twig there's a reason for it (letting car out, speed van, accident, walkers on the road, whatever).

You're giving the driver of the car behind you far too much credit. Best not to give them a chance to prove you wrong.

Nah - this is about the same in terms of annoying, long straight road, driving along at a steady pace. See car up ahead at a junction, said car waits until you are nearly on top of them, said car pulls out forcing you to brake heavily and drives well below the speed limit, only to pull in a few hundred meters away GRRRR!!

Think ramming the other car should be legal in that case.

Never seen that happen. Have seen people let others out from a side road in cities and towns when traffic is crawlling along, but never at 50/60kmph

Happened once to me on the old N3 before the motorway opened.

Just outside Dunboyne the car in front suddenly jammed on from 100 km/h to zero to let a car out from the side road. Now to be fair, that used to be an awkward enough spot to get out from, but FFS!!

Much flashing of lights, swearing and leaning on horn followed!

I will absolutely blow the ****e out of these gob****es when it happens. Under no circumstances should you be stopping on a main road to let a card out from a side road. I've seen it happen a couple of times on the N20 which just shows how many stupid people are driving on the roads...and most of the idiots are women or old people in their 70s.

I'd attribute most of the behavior above to an older generation, mid 40s onwards. Folks trying to be generous and helpful like they are in every day life and trying to apply the same to driving.

Main roads at speed are not places to be generous. When you introduce change, unfamiliarity and irregularity to normal, expected driving habits, you create accidents.

Yup nothing more annoying, you see them about to pull out, then back off, think about it and then go... WTF is the mentality there. If you decide not to go why wait 2/3 seconds which leave less margin for error and then go... the mind baffles!
