You should provide more details (lots of models and different ways to setup) but both have temp setting from the app.

but can you actually set different temperatures throughout the day in the PS models like the TS ones .

    The demo implies you can’t

    IMG_5031.png IMG_5030.png

see on the top one you can have different temperatures ( although all set to 25) at different times of the day

In the bottom there no option to set the temperature

    Click the little down arrow.

That expands and let's you change set temp and time.

doesn’t show it on the demo systems

can you post a screen shot ? Is yours a PS system ?

I just called them and they confirmed that the PS doesn’t allow you to set different temperatures…. So go with the TS

Yeah, I mixed up which one you were asking about. If my screenshot had uploaded I was showing the TS functions.

PS is temp per zone, basically old school setup where heating is on and off to a temp but with the ability to boost / edit remotely.

TS also supports smart valves IIRC.

To be blunt, depending on the price you could look at Tado as an alternate.

my plumber doesn’t install Tado and Tado have bought in a subscription service. I’m very anti- subscription services.

If I don’t like it I can always replace it.

Well an electrician should technically be installing this, unless there's re work of pipes needed but fair enough - stick to the tradie you trust.

Tado has always had a subscription, they did do that weird thing recently of faking a subscription "to see" how it plays out long term. Tado is built on Matter so will always have off cloud control IIRC - although I do need to research how much is supported with that.

For example scheduling is likely all controlled in the cloud and the user would have to replicate the scheduling behavior in their Matter controller (Google Home, Apple Home, Alexa).

I’m replacing the whole heating system. Boiler, 15 rads, 300l stainless steel cylinder, pipes, pump and 2 showers

The old system is using Gunbarrell pipes from the 60s….

I’m getting a full rewire the following week and the sparks will do the earth binding , immersion etc

    Some job.

Yeah the plumber chooses the system, usually an electrician wires it and the boiler.

Best of luck with the renovations!

Personally I'd also ask the sparks to do some CAT6A around the house as well if it's in the budget and you like your tech.

Even just having the ability to move hubs around to different spots (or all hubs in one spot at isn't beside the telly / router)!

EMBER is a nice system they're also the only crowd that do an nicely integrated setup for a hot water cylinder with thermostatic rad valves.

Change of plan. I’m going with the Smarr TRV system. The plumber said it’s an evohime but I believe he meant it’s the evohime equivalent by EPH.

    Any thoughts ?

    Is it this one?

    https://www.ephcontrols.com/range/ember-rs/

Might help others who can offer some expertise, I know price wise it's close to a Tado setup (assuming your plumber is getting good rates from their supplier) but don't know how good it is.

My fear of such a system is if Ember ever shuts you lose all smart features as there's no local hosting at all from what. I can see.

Maybe ask about Drayton, it's highly recommended in that thread on reddit there and on here.

If your tech savvy maybe you can reverse engineer it?

I changed to this EPH 16 zone system recently from the regular EPH 3 zone. It's brilliant. Each rad/room has its own temperature with several timers per day.

The advice & backup service from EPH beats Google /Hive hands down. Longest I had to wait for tech advice was a few hours & at that they apologized for being our of the office for so long

Great, I was questioning my decision

I reckon it’ll really come into its own when I’m Working from home and only need to heat my office.

Also we have one daughter who wakes up at 6. So she can have her room in then. The other one can have it for 7 and my son can have his for 8.

meant to ask. Why’s the battery life like ?

I was thinking of getting some good rechargeable ones. As opposed to splashing out on expensive ones every few months

Ember EPH comes with lithium AA BATTERIES. Regular Duracell would last over a year. Lithium ones I'd hope for a few years. I'll let you know in two years time 😊
