So I decided on a 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1 and the rest in between would be half of whatever interval I just did, so if it was 1 min fast, well then it was 30 secs slow.
    1 min=6:30 pace
    2 min=6:13 pace
    3 min=6:26 pace
4 min=6:28 pace approx(I pressed stop instead of lap)
    5 min=6:29 pace
    4 min=6:28 pace
    3 min=6:40 pace
    2 min=6:30 pace
    1 min=6:02 pace

I didn't really know what pace I should be doing these at, so I just went with what I felt would make me finish each interval. Feels good to have done a session of this quality.
    7.96 miles in 59:40, pace 7:29
    Average HR 83%

    last week/this week
    1 min=6:30 pace/5:54
    2 min=6:13 pace/6:29
    3 min=6:26 pace/6:51
    4 min=6:28 pace/6:32
    5 min=6:29 pace/6:55
    4 min=6:28 pace/6:27
    3 min=6:40 pace/6:55
    2 min=6:30 pace/7:16
    1 min=6:02 pace/7:24

I didn't match the same paces as last week, probably because of the wind as the effort was the same. Feel good after this despite having an argument with the parky. I didn't know what time the park was closing, I assumed 7ish but on my second lap the parky asked me to leave (during my 5 min fast), so I did a u turn to head out the gate and I heard him mutter something, so I asked him what he said and he said to cheek of you coming into the park when it's closed, I said this is my second lap and the gate was still opened when I passed it a few mins ago but I'm leaving now. Then I remembered my lsr from last Sunday when the gate was closed, so I said if your so into your time keeping, its a shame you don't fcuking open on time on a Sunday morning. Last word to me as I ran out the gate. I heard him shout sth that the park doesn't open till 10 in the morning but I chose not to hear him.
Distance covered in the 25 mins fast was 3.71 miles compared with 3.9 last week

I think the detail in your log is beginning to rival that of the great Krusty_Clown :D If you think the wind is annoying with your runners on, try cycling into it! Anyway, I second what Abhainn says about the importance of keeping the log. Its a useful learning tool when you read back over and review. My own log is probably deeply buried since its now 3 days since I've done anything. The feeling of 'fresh' has passed now and the feeling of 'fat' is upon me... not helping with the full pack of choc hob nobs just put away:o Good call on the 5k.. stay focused!

yeah that feeling of fatness or bloatness is unreal and ever present with myself especially when I go a day or 2 of not running.
Also I scoffed a yorky down this morning for brekky :D

    No running today.
Trying my best not to eat myself into obesity, I've already finished off the strawberry jam with a spoon :P a doctor pepper, turkish delight, a roll and a few slices of galtee cheese wrapped in ham slices

I cycled with the kids to school this morning and I don't know what I did but I now have a twinge in my right knee (could be all in my head :D, will see how it is tomorrow)

Trying to get a decent forecast for Paris and so far what I found is high temps of 20 c, partly cloudy, hoping the weather forum will give me something more accurate. Please let there be no wind :D

ahhh yes - these are the good weeks where people find they won't run for a bus because they're in the wrong shoes. I'm guilty of that one. Niggles start appearing from nowhere but magically disappear on race morning!

Hi. Your week is a mirror of mine. I'm horsing into food too. :) Good luck this week. Hope you avoid major taper jitters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,492 ✭✭✭Woddle

Is being packed already considered taper madness :D

No running again today, still a slight niggle but nothing too serious. I actually thought it was gone but in the early hours of the morning I carried my little one back to bed and felt it again. So tonights speedwork is gone. Hopefully 4 or 5 tomorrow morning and a couple on Friday morning to keep me happy.
Still horsing into the food, I promise tonight is the last night for sweets :P

Being packed already is a bit excessive, if a bit OCD!
Good luck yourself. I ran in Paris 3 years ago and its a magical race. To be running down the Champs d'Elysee and past the Louvre and along the Seine etc is fantastic. Have a ball. If a good time is going to happen it'll happen.

hi woddle best of luck this weekend.
you've done the work now go enjoy the day and run a PB, which you will do, it will just depend on the day how much you smash your marathon PB by.
    best of luck
looking forward to hear how you get on

Packed already  The gear I'm racing in is rolled into a sweaty ball in my "stinky to be washed running gear" bag in the corner!

Like the lads said you've done the hard work and those niggles and aches are just your mind playing with you. Paris is a great race (avoid teh Medoc stand at 40km though ;) ) and you'll have a ball

I packed more so because of my little girls, they change their clothes about 3/4 times a day and the 3 year old always manages to get them dirty, so at least by packing they won't be able to wear the nice clothes.

Jesus, I read that post via my email, and my first thought was "FFS tell me you're joking!!!"

While you're at it, would you not shave your head for the aerodynamic advantage?:)

Best of luck in Paris! Make sure you enjoy the whole experience, you've put loads of work in and that's all the platform you need to hit your goal. Wear the singlet with pride!

That is a ritual I do, believe it or not ! More of a state of mind than aerodynamic thing really.

Best of luck anyway Woddle. I hope everything goes well and you achieve the goals listed below in the following this order

    1) Enjoy the race
    2) Run a PB
    3) Smash your old pb :D
    4) Stay injury free
    5) Enjoy Eurodisney
    6) Pick up some white Toblerone in the duty free for TheRoadRunner:D (can move to number 1 if you want)
