Can you do an image search on Google and find a high res image, then have it printed for you?

Am I very tired or very wasted, because I see a Jamaican smoking a giant spliff on that graphic.

Ahhh, I was considering that, but I'm an absolute whore for things being original. :D Be that videogames, monitors, cabs, poster prints, original art etc. A reprint just wouldn't be the same.

Hahaha! Way to forever ruin that image for me :D

Some old TV repair manuals should have schematics and diagrams like that but would be small A4 stuff.

you could vectorise something like this and have it printed

You really have to admire the precision engineering and electronics that went into CRT screens. It's way more fascinating than flat panel tech.

One thing that really amazes me is how long we used the technology as our main display screens, from the late 20's right up until the mid 2000s. That's a very long time for something to remain pretty unchanged at it's core.

There's a NTSC/U Super Nintendo on Adverts at the moment.
And it's only €50, which is pretty good.

I could mention the colour, but you'd be best to see it for yourself, and decide if you can live with it....

Like the Internal Combustion Engine and those Soviet era launchers and Soyuz capsules CRTs are ridiculously robust tech.
They just work, and work and then work some more.
To the point that the switch from them to flat panel took longer than it should because of just how reliable they were.
My 29" Trini is 22 years old, the B&W set I have is close to 35 years old and they show no signs of dying, though I suspect they will succumb to capacitor deterioration eventually, like most electronics.

I wasn't sure if it was extreme sun damage or a curiously lousy custom paint job by someone who can't get enough beige.

It would get the console grey again but would probably just make the buttons pink

    29" 4:3 Trinitron -

    https://www.adverts.ie/tv/sony-trinitron-29-normal-aspect/15594283

This is a nice one - Progressive scan 32" Quintrix. From the manual it looks like it has 4 SCARTS and 100Hz can be turned off -

Hmm, someone offered €80 for the Sony after free offer accepted... wonder how this pans out..

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,965 ✭✭✭Doge

    Bit silly offering €80 on:
    1. A free ad
    2. A TV that takes a while to come on.

That Panasonic... is it a decent set I wonder?
I might look to retire one of the crappy portables I have, put something like that in instead....

I would have loved one back when they were new. With 2 RGB SCARTs and a progressive component input it should suit old consoles and newer ones like the Wii and 360.

If you're going to look at it, bring an old console like the MegaDrive with SCART and see what it looks like in 4:3 mode with 100Hz turned off. Make sure it has the remote, because you won't be able to access the relevant menus without it.

Fairly rare to see a later model silver 29 Inch trinitron in Ireland. They tend to all be in 16:9 at that size/model.

Would be a good buy as it probably has loads of hours left in it.

Edit - just saw about it needing to warm up..hmmm
