I think the Elite is the top of the line model.

Any ideas what price they can expect to be around black friday?

In the market for one now but could wait if the difference was enough

I bought 3 last October when they just released for £230-£240 I think.

They were £70 a few weeks ago again.

    * Caution, you may find it a great addition to your home automation set up, or you may order it while pissed, be unable to set it up properly and spend weeks spamming this thread with how crap you think it is..

Big shout out to the Logitech Harmony fanclub ;) keep one hand firmly on your Logitech and the other on your handy little gadget and your evenings will be complete...full automation and no mess.

I guess the next question is, is the new Echo Plus twice as good as the Echo?

Not for me no. The sound is very good from the Echo and I have Hue, Nest, Harmony and Blink all linked to and they all work perfectly.

    Cool.

Bought a couple of new Dots, but have been looking for a "main" unit.
2 Echos for the price of 1 Echo Plus seems like better value.

I think I'll pick up the new Show for the kitchen and wouldn't mind one of the new dots for the PC desk and move the Echo to the kitchen.

I think you can link the Echos together now to create a surround sound.

You could look at something like this. You could then pick up a suitable power supply and some RGBW led strips. I currently use two similar units set up through Hue with no problem. Currently have one running along the top of kitchen units and second will be going in to a bedroom that will soon be re-decorated.

I’m thinking smart blinds will be the main desire for this year’s Black Friday.

Anyone got any experience of them?

Looking to retrofit on wooden Venetians.

Can you give more info, brand, price, source, experience etc?

I just want mine to do the twisting of the slats rather than raise & lower.

Netgear Nighthawk R7800 for £120 on Amazon on deal of that day.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-Dual-Band-AC2600-Router/dp/B01B4X503S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540299210&sr=8-1&keywords=r7800

Absolutely excellent router that I use myself and very good price for it.

Not directly a Home Automation bargain. But if you get into HA and end up with lots of devices, you will quickly discover that ISP supplied routers struggle with lots of devices connected, specially if you are doing lots of IP camera streaming. A good quality router like the above is a most IMO for folks getting into HA tech.

Having said that, it seems it does support some voice commands with both Google Home and Alexa.
