    * Using your voice to call a device - found this useful to locate my phone in the house when I've misplaced it.

    * Users will no longer be able to use the Search bar microphone to complete actions like turning on lights - I hope I can still do this by saying "ok Google" into my phone!

Surely the "hey Google where's my phone" will be staying. It triggers the find my phone on android?

Might be time to move to Alexa, anyone know if a hack of home speakers is possible ?

    QQ gang

I have four Google mini speakers / Google home displays in my house.

I have Google meet app installed on my phone and I'm trying to do two things:

    1. Call a specific device from my phone and not all devices.

    2. Call 1 device from another device, E.g. my kitchen Google display to my kids bedroom mini speaker. When I ask Google to do this it tells me to configure the apps in my duo app. My understanding is duo and google meet are combined to be the one app now.... and I can't see anywhere in Google meet app to configure such a thing.

Anyone able to throw some light on this? Cheers.

Can't set radio alarms anymore. Getting rid of the device.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

My Mini has gone a bit funny in the past few days. Won't respond at all to 'Hey/OK Google', or other times it seems to reboot itself with the opening chime. Or it'll stop playing radio/music.

    Hi.

I am setting up a wired nest doorbell and three hubs for my mother in law. All set up via Google home and nest app via her iPad. The problem is if we turn the iPad off the doorbell doesn't ring on the hubs. What am missing in the setup. I have the same setup at home but set up off an android phone without issues.

Any help would really be appreciated

Looked at some videos on how to reset and it won't really play ball.

Do have spare one. Proving a little finicky to set it up.

It won't play BBC World Service for me any more. It instead plays WXXI (NPR). Doesn't matter if I say 'Hey Google, BBC World Service' or reverse it, World Service, BBC.

Bose Home Speaker 300, Google enabled. We used to be able to say "Play music" and it would automatically play music from Spotify(free account), now it won't, but it'll play music from YouTube music if I select that as my preferred music provider in my Google assistant settings.

Spotify still works on my Nest hub and speaker, it also works when using Spotify Connect to Bose speaker.
Not a problem as such, just curious if any of you have a similar issue and if so, can it be sorted?

    No price, it just works.

I enabled it on my phone and it was absolutely awful.

You get descriptive answers but it couldn't pay a song I asked it to play. It couldnt play a radio station from TuneIn. It couldn't set a reminder for me.

Tried it on my phone over a month ago and couldn't connect to my minis in my home or my hue. Had to revert to the Assistant.

I'm guessing they'll do away with "hey google….." in favour of "Gemini….." which would be a good thing IMO - the whole "Hey Google" thing has been a peeve of mine since day one, especially when the apple equivalent was just "Alexa…".

Yes, I've Gemini on my phone and it's fantastic

Anyone having issues with the nest mini's not playing radio stations on Tune In?

I can get it to play no problem but it flat out refuses to play for the wife, she has to get me or the 4 year old to get it going but I fear it will end up in the bin. This is happening on 4 mini's and 1 screen device.

Is it not picking up her voice? Or it is, but won't play radio? Is it the way she phrases the request? I've had trouble with newstalk unless I say "play newstalk fm".

No, this has worked for years but stopped in the last few weeks. It picks up what she says but it either says I looked for that station but couldn't find it or does a Google search.

The whole google home experience has gone downhill for me. I bought three google home units a few years ago on special. Simple things like "google play the news" doesnt work propely. It usually plays the news from a few days ago. "Google broadcast to kitchen display" is hit and miss. Nest doorbell also is giving delayed notifications. Am i doing something wrong?

Still working fine for me, but it has taken a dislike to my wife on occasions 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,277 ✭✭✭TaurenDruid

Likewise. I've noticed it often completely ignores my partner, but she has a habit of speaking really quickly to it, much more quickly than she'd speak to me (maybe it's because she thinks I'm slow! 🤣)

But weird it appears to not hear or react to female voices as well.

My home system now tells me the temperature in Fahrenheit. I have the weather units in the app set to Celsius. Anywhere else I can check?

Google also seems to prefer me than my wife! What is going on with that

Some BBC radio stations now appear to be blocked. 'This station is not available in your country'. Radio 3, 4 and World Service.

Is there a way of connecting via mobile data hotspot? It says 'wifi hotspot isn't available on your device'. I've watched a few videos, no luck. I go to a strength class with my athletics in a club. It's in a shed, there's no wifi…thinking of bringing the mini to play Spotify.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,551 ✭✭✭Ryath

I've hot spotted chromecasts so I would have though speaker would work.

Surely easier though to pick up a bluetooth speaker than having to set up it back up when you bring it home. Unless you are planning on leaving it there? Mini wouldn't really get loud enough for a gym class either I'd think.

Thanks. It's not a big shed, class size averages 8-12, sometimes up to 17 (pretty tight). Our leaders typically bring them own jukeboxes, but they're not left behind, security. The shed gets a bit damp at this time of year too. Did a factory reset earlier and that didn't help. A few videos pointed to having a second phone. I used a Mini in the garden during lockdown, however that was over the wifi router and largely folk music, not a gym soundtrack. Thought it was decent enough, tbf.
