Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Thanks QB but proceed however originally planned or whatever your poll suggests, it might be unfair to players otherwise at this stage. It's just my game has been in the queue for a year now, the sign-up thread is going almost 2 weeks with the launch date in the thread title. An impromptu live game of WW on the eve/day of a long game, it just seems to discard structures and courtesies which (I thought) were long established in the forum.The people signing up to the live game were not signed up to your full game Stu. Thats probably why it was proposed.
We are in an exceptional period at the moment in terms of people being isolated. I dont object to people stepping forward to offer games to the forum.
They likely aren't going to now anyway. Sign-up threads mostly always get a few late sign-ups once people are more sure of their schedule for the week ahead. If my sign-up thread was closed by the time you launched yours, I'd completely agree with that logic and see the sense in running a short game concurrently - Not everyone who wants to play WW wants to get on the week-long paranoia and interrogation train. It would even be impressive to see those who would take on playing 2 games at once :eek:
About isolation and exceptional times though - there were more low-liers/drop-outs in The Stand than in other games which aren't run at these exceptional times. We should have seen a high or even record-breaking post count in The Stand if isolation was a factor on participation in games, but The Stand had about 1500 posts in the end, subs and lots of 'why is nobody posting?' posts.
There are no shortage of people offering various games in the forum lately, great to see it thriving and the choice on offer, plus it's been advertised in a thread title that we would be offering a WW game on April 26th. I certainly don't object to people 'offering games' either, I think that would be an unfair simplification of my point here about the WW mod queue, structures and/or courtesies.
Work away and good luck with your live game. I certainly encourage any kind of meet-up which friends can get at the moment, it's important, especially to a community fond of our beers and socialising. I have a Skype thing later that I'm looking forward to. It's just I feel that there's a difference between a digital beers and games meet-up, and an official live WW sign-up thread. Impromptu one night games are great and a necessary fuel to keep the forum and craic going, but I can't remember one aiming to launch on the same day/eve as a long game before. Could be wrong though.
Just to say as an aside, I have a similar amount of sign-ups for The Witcher as Deadwood, my last mod and something I greatly enjoyed. These numbers are just fine for me and manageable as someone still learning to run games (This is only my 2nd lead mod). Whether I had 10, 20 or 30 sign-ups for The Witcher, I'd still be here making this point.
Anyway, good luck to you both and as you probably know and remember - My real problem here is that I'm shíte at live WW and always get outed early 0 -

You know I had said as much to Necro about 1k or so posts missing from him in The Stand being a factor, but I never thought about the other thousand you would have unloaded had you not been busy IRL. 0 -
