Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'd be up for a next week start - though it's very short notice for you guys to put together the game, and sort out the back-rooms, etc, especially if it'll be mostly just Mahama on your own.

I've withdrawn from modding in April, so it'd be up to Tigs and Mick if they want to swap with you.

Or, an Option C, if there's anybody else wanting to mod that hasn't done so yet, maybe now's the opportunity....?

That's a shame you pulled out of modding QB! you were amazing when we paired together.

As for the next game. I do start my new job a wee on monday and since I am the Office Manager and there is no other employees yet but me I don't think I will have a problem getting on... hopefully anyway.

I head to Scotland this Saturday (4th) and back the 11th. Up for any start.

I'd love to be able to step in and mod but due to the time difference I wouldn't be around in the morning. I could be around a bit during the day and help more in the evenings. So if a part-time co-mod would help at all let me know.

I'll put myself down to mod one properly when I'm back in Ireland later this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,673 ✭✭✭mahamageehad

Hmm looks like there's no volunteers to start the next game. I'm going to see if I can squeeze it in before I leave, otherwise I maybe a 1 night game? I'm en route to the office, I'll post a separate thread soon coz I'm worried the conversation is getting lost in here.

10am lynch & 9/10pm munch has been the way so far, but it doesn't HAVE to be that way. If there were two times, roughly 12 hours apart that did suit you better, then you could always set those as the killing times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,455 ✭✭✭tritium

RL a bit pressured so full modding isnt probably viable for me right now (the erratic posting frrquency every game isnt a tactic :) ) but similar to barney im happy to take on some of the workload if it would help. Usually find myself on mobile in the day and desktop later in the evening if that has any impact.

Some perspective for first time mods: for me modding on my phone at key times like lynch and munch was difficult, trying to keep so many tabs open for all the different things, lynch form, back room, backroom admin, boards and my spreadsheet, it was a lot hence it taking me nearly 20 mins to do lynch on the first night!! (I really understand now why last minute voting changes in the lynch annoy mods so much!!) the only thing I found manageable on my phone was mod clarifications, and back room q's

I can volunteer to do the morning shift?

Aye, a laptop is pretty handy for adding up the lynch votes in particular. I have my own technique for doing it and can do it pretty quickly now so maybe I'll put a how-to up somewhere.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,906 ✭✭✭Barney92

Well if people are okay with a 10.30/11 lynch announcement then I should be able to mod this time. That'd give me half an hour after work to make sure I can get it right.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,906 ✭✭✭Barney92

I could do a start either this Sunday or next Sunday. Sunday week might be best, to prevent any issues on patricks day if the game reaches Friday. Anyway I think sulli said they'd co mod so if that's okay with everyone we can put up a sign up sheet and see what people think.

Yep! This Sunday is possibly to short notice to get the numbers, but all good for next Sunday I think.

Good on you Barney, and Sully!! :)

I've not used the backroom before so if you could explain how that works as a mod that'd be great.

Thanks to Barney and Sulli for stepping in for this month's game. Looks like game XII in May is still available, can you put us down for that one if it's still open! :)

    we're so hot right now!!

I'm wondering is there a market for more than one game a month? I seems like we've an average of 3 weeks wait between games with the current schedule. I know we don't want to overdo it, but maybe have a limit of 2 weekends from the end of one game till the start of the next. We've a load of new players now and they have to wait ages to get a game.

    Just a thought.

Also, if anyone wants to run another live game in between one of the main games they should give it a go. We'd want to check though if anyone has a theme in mind specially around the game # or the month that it's due to be on.

Also, stick me down for modding 16. :D

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

I'd be happy, in principle, for more games (ie, less time between games), though I'll be personally out of action until June-ish.

I'd also be up for another live game soon, and if at the weekend like last time then I'd be far more available. Not sure about modding it myself though.

Maybe a plain vanilla game would be a good thing to try and get done so that the influx of new players get a chance to get to grips with playing with little or no complex roles etc?

I could do it but I've never played one of those despite modding them several times.

I actually modded one once where I set up duplicate accounts in the name of Simpsons characters for everyone and nobody was allowed to reveal their forum identity so that people didn't get killed of early on reputation alone. That was fun. Couldn't do that here on Boards and the full game would have to be run on the other site though.

No but very similar. It was on a forum like our back room from a soccer forum that I used to post in years age but that back room is gone now. It was also a one night game.

I know this is well thinking in advance, but I'd love a crack at modding one way down the road. I floated the idea of a Pro-Wrestling themed one over on the other site, and I think it could be really fun. Faces (Good Guys) vs Heels (the Wolves), heel turns, the characters line up to player roles (Alpha Wolf = Vince, and the wolves are his stable?).

Plus, everyone playing would not have to deal with me being so useless at playing :pac:

Unfortunately I can only thank this once.

Would be up for giving a hand with this one if it got off the ground, even if it was only helping out on the week of the game!

I actually think I might be ready to help someone out with running a game. But I seriously mean HELP. I would have no clue where to start with setting up a game.
And I'm happy enough that it's booked till August anyway so maybe sometime in the autumn is far enough away that I won't get an immediate stress headache thinking about it. :(
