Water bomb of rain arriving over the next 24 hours, add the storm on top and there is going to be a lot of firewood for cutting next year

Storm Darragh is fairly howling here now, it'll be rough night in the West and North.

Rough here in west Galway with the past hour I see Near 4k houses without power in oughterard area and no sign of reconnection till orange warning is stood down. It's times like these the ESB lads earn there keep. Nothing soft about any money they make over the next few days

Roof of the hayshed is flying around the yard and in the back garden here in north Roscommon.
Currently looking out the window at a 16ft 4x3 that was part of the A roof flung about 20metres off the shed with sheets and all. Hopefully the donkeys survived the roof coming off in the hayshed!

It’ll be a rough morning surveying the damage.

    Power gone here

Power still on here this morning, drinking tea & watching TV at the moment. Feels like a luxury. It won't last, we always get outages.

Dropped one of the kids about 2 miles away there now. A few branches down. Just having tea and will milk then in case power goes

Walked out this morning expecting the worst a few ould rickedy sheds here but miraculously they are all still standing,it's always on my to do list to tidy them up every summer, but never gets done it's not the sheds falling down that bothers me it's the flying sheet's and the damage that they could do that worries me.

no electricity here. Barely phone coco stage also. It’s down to 3G. The mast must of being damaged.
was Aparantly every windy. I have a dose on me and slept like a log. Never heard anything. Sister said she never slept a wink in her house.
anyway has planned to go to Mart with lambs but won’t bother now. Could be trees on ground and online bidding won’t be operating everywhere.

Fierce wind here. Still have power. No major damage. A few screws gone out of a sheet over the parlor.

Power was out here this morning, no mobile reception and water barely a trickle. I'm glad of the wood stove and gas hobs, it's outrageous to think they want to do away with chimneys in new houses, this storm will probably have knocked enough firewood for me for next winter.

    power just back now thankfully

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 195 ✭✭Diarmuid B

without power still since 3am last night, only got phone connection back now. About 1 bay of hayshed still has the roof intact, rest gone and the back if it is hanging on as there’s bales propped up behind it.
1 side of the hayshed will give way soon, top timber snapped in half and turf pushing up against it.
House and cattle sheds thankfully all good so that’s the main thing. Two donkeys survived the bombardment in the hayshed overnight!!

Neighbour got it bad too, hayshed and overflow calving shed are now roofless. Trees down all over the place too

At least stock all alive. Regardless of some hassle you'd both may have with moving animals to somewhere with a roof

What part of the country are you. We were lucky here in West Cork to have avoided that
