If ever an article needed a click-bait headline, then this was it. But no, The Mirror go with

Police warn terrifying craze of clowns jumping out of bushes to scare passers-by has spread to UK after sweeping America

Do you think something like this could spread here? Have you ever been accosted by a clown? Is this something that I should be worried about on my nocturnal rambles?

I'd die of a heart attack.

I often wake up in a funk after realizing I've had a leg hanging out of the duvet. It's that kind of opportunity the clowns under the bed take advantage of, and you find yourself waking up with one leg. :(

Only the genuinely disturbed become clowns. They know why.

I would punch someone straight square in the face if anyone did that to me. Even thinking about someone doing that to me makes me angry. Also, I was walking through dunnes today and just at the top of the escalator there was a clown mask. That's more than enough clown for me.

Killer clowns from outer space. Great B-movie, so bad, it's good.

Wonder when clowns went from been a source of comedy to fear?

Steven Kings Pennywise clown in 'IT'?

I gave Cunnilingus to a clown once.

    She kinda tasted funny.

From the linked article "Police in Middlesboro, Kentucky, arrest a man dressed as a clown after he scared people".

Apparently there's a distinction between a clown and a man dressed as a clown.

IT is being remade. I won't be watching it. I certainly wouldn't read it.

Is it anything like this? Because if so I think I know where the idea came from.

This make life so hard for real Clowns. Who often face judgement and resentment anyway.
Genuine Clowns and their families may unfairly feel the backlash in
their angered communities in the coming weeks.

    Spare a thought.

I have read it and saw the tv-film. The book is about a million times better (scarier).

It's not that I'm afraid of clowns, they make me uncomfortable. I don't like them.

Clowns were never a source of comedy and I am deeply suspicious of anyone who finds them funny.

    Yes of course

A real clown gets their face painted on an egg and left with the people who manage these things.

Using another clowns face is serious business.

If you are ever attacked by a shudder of clowns then remember
In the “hierarchy” of clowns the Whiteface is the traditionally the most intelligent of the clowns and will be in control and in charge when performing with other types of clowns.

I think the first appearances were done by the studio to drump up a bit of hype for the remake of IT

Then a few people started doing it just to have a bit of craic and scare people

Now there's so many what happens when someone comes across the genuine psycho and ends up hanging from a tree via their entrails

One jumped out at me yesterday and in shock I punched him in the face!

Said he was calling the Gardai, gave him my details and told him to work away

    Haven't heard much since

I hate clowns, and as a close second I hate those street performers who paint themselves in metallic paint and stand really still...as if staying still is some sort of talent.

Most of these sightings are folk dressed up getting their photo taken by a friend and that's it.

IT is often cited as a reason for fear of clowns.
The only thing frightening about IT was the appalling direction and pacing. Fnarrr!

I don't mind clowns too much.

A clown at night time is a different game altogether.

Clowns have no business out at night.
