Baby talk and a video package for a different show, just showing the fans they don't give a crap about mid-card titles at WM.

Great match put on from Finn and Seth. PPV quality.

Saving taker for mania. The smart move imo.

Saving taker for mania. The smart move imo.

But not confirming it at all?

Cena is “going as a fan”, like will there be a lull and Taker will just come out and they’ll have their march?

Unless something happens on smackdown then it’s strange to have Taker at Mania and not properly hype hik as such, or worst case and unlikely scenario we’ve been honeydicked for weeks about a potential match

They're going in cold which is what I washoping for, beats 3 weeks of poor build and pointing! It's a new and interesting thing to do and I can see it being an exciting no dq match.

Cena will probably come out to do an aw shucks it's Mania promo only to be interuppted by Taker who storms to the ring. That's how I see it going down.

The Reigns/Lesnar stuff was again close to perfect. They've gone balls out to try get Reigns over one last time as a hero. I was down on the segment until Lesnar got the last F5 in. Great storytelling.

Brawn's stuff was cringey as fúck. No time for that nonsense. His aura is being eroded week by week now. and it's a damn shame.

Taker not showing before Mania would've been stupid a few years. But in the current climate where you're not reliant on 'buys'...why not? it doesn't make a blind bit of difference, and whenever he does appear at Mania now, it's be a ice moment. i can see the match itself being quick.

One of the worst pre Mania raws in living memory. Couldnt give two shïts about any of the matches really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,349 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Expecting Taker to show up on Smackdown with no Cena.

Taker has always been more of a Smackdown guy and "he'll appear on his own terms, not Cena's." or something like that.

Actually, I am looking forward to Flair vs Asuka. Thats about it.

    Meh.

It's been way too predictable. I can appreciate the story is what it is, and the match will be good, but I feel there's zero tension in any of it. Its been exactly what everyone thought it would be for the last year. Not that its bad. But I can't get excited about a story I could have written in 5 minutes a year ago and nailed.

I compare it to the shenanigans that Brock/Brawn had (the grapple hook, for instance) or what Brawn/Roman had (they also did the stretcher angle but more extreme) and feel this entire thing has been tame in comparison to what we've seen. In a match with no tension, I feel there needed to be something more gripping, and there's really not been imo.

Rest of the show was paint by numbers as well. Can't say I'm any more excited about any match on the PPV than I was before the show.

Cena/Taker at least surprised me, in so far as I expected the answer on Raw. But I don't know if thats surprise in a good way. I do wonder, though, if they've thought maybe Taker can't do a 15-20 minute match, and instead will just do a "moment". Have Cena issue one more challange at Mania itself, Taker finally comes out, stare down...and then, someone like Elias interupts. Cena and Taker beat him down, then Taker hits Cena with a chokeslam and tombstone, and they can go on about a massive "Mania Moment".

If you have Seth and Finn why bother with Miz? He is is a great mouth but with a tired persona and in the ring he needs to be a third person so his match does not look weak.

Miz actually has a personality and can talk on the mic unlike Rollins or Balor who both have about as much character as cardboard

Yeah why not. Would you be any more excited if taker showed up last night and pointed towards the sign?

At least there's a bit of interest on my part to see how they set it up at mania now.

He can say the same ol stuff over and over, then come bell time he is not awesome. That is Miz recurring problem.

Seth as a heel was very good and well able to talk. Heel Seth v The Demon looking to avenge his injury from summerslam would be a much better mania match.

miz/seth/finn had a great triple threat match on last year on raw you should check out if you think miz doesnt add anything to the match. i think miz adds a great little spark to the match

    And I'm actually with you.

I suppose my comments on the angle and storytelling should really be read in the context of what I've said ad nauseum over a long time now.

Because Roman is, in reality, the 'Chosen One', and because he's been pounded into the Main Event spot, there is very little to get properly excited about, bar the fact it'll be a great, physical match. as you say, there is no tension. we know who is winning (and I say that thinking he should win).

But it's meh, because wrestling fans (or smarks if you like) cannot forget the last few years, or specifically, the blatant, unashamed, brazen choosing of Roman over Bryan when Bryan was at his hottest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,293 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Are they not making a wwe 24 on takers return for the match ??

Seems odd there's no marketing for this match as it's a big deal. As a poster here suggested maybe it won't be a match but just a confrontation with taker beating down Cena ??

If Cena is going as a fan than he should be ejected from the ring for jumping for the barricade and if it's going to be a match will a ref just appear all of a sudden ??

hit the nail on the head there like i know itll be a good match but i wont stay up for ill catch it whenever the next day theres no excitement to it.

also the way they have done would have made perfect sense with anyone else claiming that brocks vinces guy but we all know both of them are.

even away from roman im completely done with brock i will be delighted to see him gone tbh. hes been so stale since mania 31 for me and ill think theyll be in a better place storyline wise without him

Bryan is too small though. 5ft 7, 14 stone Daniel Bryan vs 6ft 3, 19 stone UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar just isn't a runner.

I think its the fact that Reigns is so boring. Decent worker but crappy promos, same clothes, same music and two awful finishing moves. At least Cena could always cut a promo and shows a bit of energy.

Yeah it was good but he remains the odd one out who is not needed. Which brings me back to why bother? It would be better, for a feud, if they made Seth or even Finn into a worthwhile heel for a rematch of Summerslam.

It would have a story other than just let's put these together since Miz is loose and needs to feature for Total Diva's plus another movie on the way.

    of course it's a runner.

if you're good at your job as a pro wrestler, you can easily make it believable that Bryan could compete with Lesnar.

Shawn Michaels made much of his career out of that story. he often talks about how, in fact, it's the easiest story to tell, and he really enjoyed it.

There are too many wrestlers. Kevin Owens should have his own match. Ronda should have her own match. Bryan should have his own match. Strowman should have his own match.

HHH, Steph and Angle should be nowhere near the ring at any WM.

    HBK is 6ft tall.

    HBK is 6ft tall.

shawn is 5 10 and made it believable fighting 6 10 taker. his wrestling height may have said 6ft but def wasn't

wrestling is made on the under dog story its so easy. honestly one of my dream matches right now for bryan is braun to see how its built

Angle was 5'10.5", confirmed by the Olympics.

Punk is 6'1. Confirmed by UFC

People seem to think HBK was smaller because he was usually up against bigger guys and HHH made a gag of it before. Google pics of him beside 6'1 Bret Hart. A shade smaller.

Much like Rey vs Big Show. It would be silly.

Of course it's a runner( I don't know if they'll go for it), it's pro wrestling at its most basic. It's good versus evil or big versus small. It's been happening since frank gotch was around in some form or fashion. Wrestling has changed a lot over the years and not always for the better, but there are some things that will always work. This concept works.
