Thanks for all the responses at least I know these are a possibility.

No doubt when it comes to wiring up I will have a few further questions!

Received email this morning offering discount on the Netatmo thermostat when purchased from Netatmo directly.
    Shop link here:
    https://shop.netatmo.com/eur_en/thermostat-promo.html

Use promo code PROMO99 at the checkout for discount to be applied. Normal price from Netatmo directly is €179.

One caveat is that this version on sale is NOT Apple Homekit compatible. It works fine using iPhone and Android apps.

Just discovered that the unit I received is Apple Homekit compatible:D

Remember, the older ones still work with Apple, just using the Netatmo app rather than HomeKit. Once set up, I've found I rarely use the app after that.

Been using the IFTTT functionality to interface with reed switch on my patio door. When the door opens, the thermostat goes to 'off'; when closed reverts back to normal.
If anyone interested I'll post more details.

Well the SEAI has some serious grants at the moment for replacing old boilers with new, energy efficient models. You could get a combi-boiler like mine where the hot water is heated on-demand rather then a tank.

The SEAI grant would cover most of the cost of this, while the savings from more energy efficiency would cover the rest.

Just to clarify, SEAI only offer the grant for a new boiler if you install multizone controls as well.
Netatmo does not meet the multizone requirements that SEAI stipulate for regular boilers and zoned heating.
Interestingly I wonder if it would qualify in conjunction with a combi.

Unfortunately the wide thinks its cold whenever the radiators aren't warm !

She has no access to the app and i watch it like a hawk in case she turns it up manually :pac:

There's an IFTTT recipe that will send you a notification when the thermostat is manually adjusted.

Probably a dumb question but how can you have the thermostat on the portable stand?
Doesn't it need to be connected to the control switch to communicate with the boiler?

It talks back to the controller wirelessly.

    Wifi it links .

But how does it communicate to the boiler, isn't the RF receiver in the thermostat?

Without it all that's connected to the boiler is the plastic connector block.

Heat link does the physical connection to boiler, Stat connects via WiFi to the heat link.

So there's a WiFi adapter in that little heat link?

    Netatmo comes with two parts.

The Thermostat, which is powered by batteries

A relay, which is powered either by a plug or the boiler.

You can set it up one of two ways, depending on your boiler controls wiring:

    1) You can wire the thermostat unit directly to the boiler, the thermostat is still powered by batteries and is fixed to the wall, usually replacing your old thermostat. The relay is then plugged into a normal wall socket, somewhere in your house. In this setup, it is the thermostat that is actually physically switching on and off the boiler.

    2) You wire the relay directly to the thermostat, the thermostat powers the relay. The thermostat unit is then completely wireless and can be moved around the home. In this method, it is the relay which is physically switching on and off the thermostat.

Yes, it is a little confusing before you see it. However this setup actually does gives you the maximum variety of installation methods.

My AAA batteries for the thermo are only lasting3-4 days from new. I'm on my fourth set in a month😒 I'm guessing it might be related to when I electrocuted the thermo by connecting to mains power on initial set up. Anyone else have extremely short battery life??? Manual says 2 years.

Something very wrong there. I've had mine over a year and battery still showing as 80% full.

There is a known issue with the Netatmo weather station outdoor module and excessive battery consumption that resulted in an RMA for me but I've not heard of any issues with the thermostat.

Where could I get one of these now?

I've a two zone setup in our house, upstairs heat and downstairs heat. Each zone has a thermostat.

Would anyone know if I can just replace 1 thermostat (downstairs) using the netatmo, and keep the upstairs thermostat as is? Or does it depend on my system? Thanks.

That's what I did, and a year later I replaced the second one.

    Shouldn't be a problem Dó.
I ran with one netatmo and one normal as a trial before subbing the second netatmo in.
Very happy with how the netatmos are working for me.

Can the app allow 2 units?

Yes, there is a drop down menu in the app that allows you to switch between thermostats associated with your netatmo account.

Updated the app last night, much faster syncing on Android now. Nice one.

I am getting the Netatmo installed during next week but I wont be there when they install it, Father will be. Now to control it remotely I will need to download the app from the Play store. However as I wont be there to test it what is the best way to make sure its working remotely?
Do I have to get my father to have the app synched to my account or can he check some way without me there?

Anyone else find the temp to not be that accurate?

I dont have a set schedule. How do I set to come on for a certain time in the morning without creating a schedule?

Temp seems to be very accurate in my experience.

You want to schedule your heating without using the scheduler?

Sorry just figured out I can get the schedules now up in the top right corner. What I wanted was to be able to set the heating to come on for example at diff times in the morning as I wake up at diff times depending on what time I have class etc.

Regarding the accuracy, I find its slow to respond to temperature changes. It could be at 22 Celsius for an hour and after the hour (while still at 22), it feels much colder. Could be just imagining it, would need to test using a separate temperature gauge.

Most I've seen is a 5-10 minute lag in reporting of temperature changes, if you're seeing (and verifying) anything greater than that you should contact support and potentially RMA the device as it could be faulty.

Could it be a case of the Thermostat unit is in a different room (i.e. Hall) to where you are normally. Maybe the rooms are different temps. Also is your Thermostat over or near a rad, that can cause a difference too.

Like yllw.ldbttr I've found it to be very accurate.
