Im running a Hushpower on mine at the minute. Its an over barrel model so it only adds about 3 inches to the length of the barrel. Only downside is it cant be taken apart for cleaning. Other than that its a superb piece of kit. €300 from Duffy in Galway

What are you or your mate looking for?

Is sound reduction more important, or perhaps aesthetics. Over barrel, muzzle mounted, don't care? Caliber specific or larger to suit more than one rifle (for the future).

Overbarrel is the first thing so. Look at:
    • Ase Northstar
    • Wildcat
    • Hausken
    • T8
    • A-Tec
The A-Tec Hertz is the lightest at 395gr to the Ase which would be the heaviest at 660gr. The other fall in the middle at approx 440gr, 490gr and 600gr.

In terms of sound reduction you can only go by what the manufacturer claims. Most are in or around the 29 to 32 db reduction. Now what they claim to what they do is different, as is what each person thinks is quieter will also differ regardless of which one claims to be. IOW it's all about perception.

Then price. Not to far apart really. The Hausken would possibly be the more expensive at around €320 or so. The A-Tec about the same. Then the Wildcat, Northstar and T8 descend in price (in that order) to about €270 or so.

All of them are over barrel but some shorter than others in overall length.

The last thing to look at it fit. A friend has a Wildcat and it would not go over then barrel. He had the barrel cut back to 22". It was a heavy barrel rifle to start with but when he cut it back the 0.9" diameter at the original muzzle became 1.07 at the "new" muzzle and the mod was only designed to take a barrel to 25 mm .

Should not be a problem with 90% of rifles, but something to be aware of.

Now there are more suppressors available but the 5 above seem to suit what your mate is looking for. I've used the T8, Wildcat (Predator 8), A-Tec (but not the new Hertz),and the Northstar. The Northstar, to me, was the quietest but frankly it'd be hard to tell the actual difference and my mate thought it was the A-tec with my Father thinking it was the T8.

So now it's time to go shopping, but it'd be no harm to visit a range if you can and see what mods lads have, what think of them, and see if they are as quiet as they claim or as you think.
