Typical RTE, more time sh1t talking with Al Porter and that other presenter with the beehive haircut than actually playing music.

Had to mute it until music comes on. I would honestly prefer the rain than listening to that presenter guy. Ive been in a LOT worse weather conditions than this at gigs and concerts, its not that bad. EP, 2009, the Sunday was a washout

I thought picnics were about crisps, ham-sangwagies and kit-kats:confused:

30 minutes in (by the end of adbreak), nothing but a bloody Gavin James downer in the studio.

    Live at Electric Picnic....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,129 ✭✭✭Arsemageddon

I can never watch this or Glastonbury Live without wishing I was in a muddy field, off my head and falling around the place clutching on to a bag of cans as if my life depended on it.

That said, I'll feel happy on Monday when I wake up without a severe case of trench foot.

I'm in my mid to late 30s, I get tired by 11 and I don't drink, I'm happy to not be standing in a field in the dark. But I'll happily watch Jenny Greene all day long

    Not watching.

Is Gavin James the guy with red hair who plays a guitar?

What was his analysis of an electric music festival? Did he have much to say about New Order and the Chemical Brothers? Did he clarify whether he prefers Pantha du Prince or Todd Terje?

    And who is Al Porter?

Had him chatting about his gigs and ed sheeran.

    Ridiculous.

It isn't an electric music festival. Its a music festival called Electric Picnic. Its well over a decade old so thought people would have copped that by now!

It's the first time in years I did not go, and I am delighted! I left at about 8pm on Sunday last year. I was cold, dirty and my neck and back were killing me from sleeping on the ground. I was too grumpy to drink on the Sunday. I just thought "I am too old for this ****" and legged it. I considered abandoning my tent too but it cost a fortune so we just fecked it in the wheelbarrow and stumbled to the car.

not a huge fan of Bell X 1 but they are proper musicians so at least we have a bit of sense from RTE now!

We now go live to hear BellX1 play 2 songs...

with Al Porter making sexual innuendo and "Look at me, I am from Tallaght and gay" jokes in 15 minutes

Christ could it be more down beat. A huge Saturday night crowd and you want to get everyone dancing. How about a speech about the 2 girls going to England for an abortion followed by the most depressing song ever written.

Glastonbury was the same. Main stage Saturday night and a crowd ready to go mad. How about Adele doing that ballad about her ex?

For fcuk sake is this what festivals have come to?

Jesus Bellx1 are average, sounds like any Saturday night pub band.

The most whiny of the current crop of boring, whingy singer song writers right now (worse than ed sheeran and that takes some going).

    Bit harsh.

His music is an abomination however.

I love Bell x1 when I hear them on the radio, but they sound really flat live. It's like there's something missing? Can't quite put my finger on it.

It's like there's some parts of the track missing. Are their studio albums very overproduced, and they struggle to replicate them live?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,279 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

Up For The Match will be orgasmic compared to Bell X1 and their boring ****.

its live music on an open stage in the middle of a field v studio recorded music. Of course its different!

Not a massive fan but thought they sounded good there.
