I agree with some of the points made, but the city council and councillors have been trying to get the KRM Michael Street centre on the go for years. they are spending €17m on the public realm whether you agree with the things being done or not. I don't think its fair to say that things have been accepted with a shrug? An appeal to Bord Pleanala by a member of the Socialist Workers Party effectively is holding up the redevelopment of the city. Maybe people should shrug at him?

Although this is a huge proposal, it is just one proposal, and it's on the go with a hell of a long time...

but, apart from voicing their support for this what else have they done? have they approached the objector to hear what can be done to get them on side? have they approached the developers/proposers to see if the overall development can be broken into more achievable smaller developments and phase the development? if this one development is going to transform the entire city shouldn't the council have a big say in it? why can't it be developed under PPP and lead by the LA under Section 8 to get works underway?

All of this (apart from the Section 8 vote) can be done without the councillors input, what are they doing about the city developments elsewhere while this is going on?

I stand by what I've said, I don't believe the councillors are doing enough.

I think the council are doing a good job the last number of years. The problem is that the councillors before them were doing absolutely nothing so they are trying to catch up.
