Good show though albeit a tad depressing.

Teeth. Never actually saw it but imagine it wouldn't be good.

That's just an awful excretion of a movie. Much like The Human Centipede its lore is infinitely better than what it actually is.

Went on a first date to see Good Luck Chuck, since the film we were meant to see was cancelled.

Basically it's a film about a guy who realises that every woman he f*cks meets the love of her life immediately after.
Therefore he spends most of the movie up to his neck in casual sex, before trying to woo Jessica alba who is a penguin trainer.
Dane Cook is in the leading role.

Kind of guessed which is why I never watched it.

I once went on a first date to see Shutter Island. We didn't enjoy it much, this not being helped much by me leaning in very early on and whispering
    "I bet he's mental himself."
    Oops.

The Funeral - 1996 - Looked like a cool mob film with christopher walken at the time. I can tell you that sitting through rape scenes on a first date is not fun :D

Similar to an earlier post,a friend of mine was brought by her date to the IFI,presumably in the hope of him looking sophisticated with his interest in foreign film.At least,I hope that's the reason why he brought her to In The Realm Of The Senses.Either way, there wasn't a second date.

I had a housemate once who went to Happiness on a first date. Couldn't believe it when he told me me. Don't think that there was a second date.

Years ago I took a girlfriend to see Boogie Nights on a first date . Didn't know what it was about beforehand. I still remember one immortal line in it- "take it out and c** all over my t***".

    The Human Centipede.

Apparently on my parents' second date (40 years ago now), they went to see The Sound of Music, on it's original release.

My Mum told me she picked the firm, my Father absolutely hated it! He was not the type of man for that kind of movie. I guess she got to know him better with time....

Brought a girl to see The Guest on a date a few years ago, neither of us knew anything about the film or even what genre it was.
After about half an hour into the film it was clear it was a black comedy, one which I thoroughly enjoyed right to the end.
As the credits roll she turns to me "Well, that was terrible. Was it supposed to be a joke or something?"

    I didn't see her again.

Funnily enough my now wife and I went to see Killer Joe on our second or third date.

It was a good litmus test before i told her i was into really extreme cinema.

I watched Killer Joe in the Omniplex in Cork when it came out. A load of people walked out - having been under the impression, no doubt, that Killer Joe was just going to be a 'Matthew McConaughey' movie.

I saw a load of people walked out of Only God Forgives too. I sometimes think super-hunks shouldn't be allowed in such disturbing movies...

Ah now, a decent number walked out of that because it was total ****ing ****e, in fairness. Don't kid yourself thinking their little minds were being blown by how edgy it was.

Am I missing something here? Is there a porn remake or something? The Drop is a great story with excellent performances all round.

I think he was just naming random movies for no reason. The Drop? Beavis and Butthead do America? Both movies that are exactly what they say on the tin and no more than anyone would expect, and excellent in their own right.

theres some great films being listed here. Is there a presumption that the delicate little snowflake can only watch a sh*tty romcom?
romper stomper was suggested above, why not watch something like that ? at least you'll have something to talk about afterwards.
