I've already had 3 crashes & I'm just on chapter 2. Also the main menu is so slow to appear when I start the game.
I'm sure Dontnod learned a lot from making a more ambitious open world game but I don't like that after installing updates there are so many blatant bugs there 15+ months post release & clearly arent going to be fixed at this stage.

    Frickin Sean, the little sh*t.
He gone and killed Giselle, turned sweet Loretta into a Skal and poor Dyson into a werewolf. I grew attached to Giselle and Dyson after having done the so they will be missed.
    :(
I went and killed them off apart from Loretta (need to level up first), fearing they would attack the citizens but the Docks still turned critical the following night. I failed the hint with Sean and so chose to spare him and as a result he started a little cuit. The district is now miserable to walk through.

I also ruined my Not Even Once run when I
bit the vicar during my fight with Mary because I didn't want her to do it and regain health. I didn't think it would kill him, I just thought I'd take a little nibble.
    :D

Even though I died and he's still alive after reloading, the XP carries over so that voids the trophy apparently. Oh well. The worst part is that I haven't defeated her yet. At least now I can go back and munch on the civvies I can't stand to level up. :D I'll have to do my no kill run on the second playthrough.

    Awesome game.

Got the platinum yesterday. Did 2 playthroughs, with my Not Even Once run being on normal difficulty. I’m not sure if having beaten the game already on hard alleviated my issue with the lack of fast travel and the nonsensical compass second time round, as at that point I knew the map inside out and each enemy didn’t feel like mini boss fights (on hard mode enemies have double the health and outscale you quicker).

It was still annoying that they tried to do the Dishonoured thing where the straight path is not the path you can take initially, but Dishonoured actually had inventive ways of getting past obstructions other than a lazy, “this door can only open from the other side”. Dishonoured also didn’t stutter and load when sprinting which made backtracking less of a pain.

Boss fights on normal mode are laughably easy, even without embracing anybody. I killed
    Doris
before she even had time to summon her Skal minions with a fully upgraded pump action shotgun and one Ultimate cast, same with
    McCullum
. In fact, on hard mode I only needed to hit him once and that’s because I ran out of bullets when I shot him as he was resisting.

One of the things I realised with boss fights on hard difficulty if you’re going the no kill/low kill route is that your build really doesn’t matter. You just have to have high stamina to dodge occasionally and a fully upgraded shotgun/pistol to cheese it. It’s pointless landing melee attacks because you’ll get one hit in before having to back away which makes it a slog and depletes stamina unnecessarily. The only exception to this is
    Mary
    - her boss fight is probably the most thoughtfully considered. Even on normal, she is tricky because she’s resistant to ranged attacks and her AOE is wide, but even then I still beat her first try and that’s after letting her bite the vicar.

Oh, and on Hard difficulty bullets, materials and ingredients are very scarce but on normal I was able to upgrade weapons much faster and had plenty of serums and spare bullets just sitting in my hideout box - and even then I rarely needed to use the serums on me. So yeah, the IGN reviewer is right, there really isn't any temptation whatsoever to embrace people on normal mode.

All of the good stuff about the game remains but ultimately the technical imperfections really let it down. :( The constant loading when you dared sprint, the long loading screens in buildings, the constant crashing and progression breaking bugs that forced me to restart the app and then suffer through the long loading times just to boot back in really hurt my experience over time. The lack of fast travel was clearly a compromise rather than a creative choice.

I have a low tolerance for stuff like this which is why I never buy games on launch anymore. The fact that this was the best DontNod could do a year and half later is quite pathetic. DontNod should stick to linear episodic titles if they don’t have the resources to make a polished open world game that runs properly. This was unacceptable. 7/10.

I've started this game on PS Now. Maybe I'm in the minority but I think PS Now is an excellent service at €60 for the year.

I'm in the middle of chapter 3 at the moment. I'm enjoying it to a point but to be honest I'm not really interested in talking to countless NPC's, particularly when a lot of the conversations are just not interesting. The setting is excellent and I'm enjoying the fact you can be good or bad but with the terrible load times, no fast travel having to back track too often to do side quests, I think I'm just going to ploy on and do the main story line and not bother with the side quests.

Just started this, and I have a question. Is it only the citizens named in the menu that affect the good/bad thing? Like, i've murdered about 30 people so far, all seemingly with no choice, so i'm guessing the enemies don't count? I'm a bit confused on the subject, although I'd imagine it won't matter as I nommed on down on the first citizen I could, ignorant fool talked himself into death.

So on that vein, which is more fun, aim for the bad guy or try to be the good guy? I always play the good guy first, but I have a feeling I won't be playing this more than once.

Yep, you are correct. Only the ones in the menu count and also a certain optional citizen mid fight which I won't spoil if you haven't got there yet.

Playing as the bad guy means you'll be super powerful throughout the entire game...up to a certain point and then it will become hell if you're not well equipped for a specific fight. Won't spoil it.

I personally found the joy was in having to resist the urge to chomp on citizens to level up, so for that reason I personally liked playing as the good guy but really it's up to you. There's no black and white and you'll even find that some citizens you kill leaves those closest to them better off.

The game takes into consideration how many citizens you kill so don't give up the good guy root if that's genuinely what you want just because you fed on the first citizen.

Another one started off the long back log . Started this last night on ps5 and initial impressions are very good . Looks nice , plays well & I like the gameplay . Will get into it big time when I finish hellblade 2 and get another playthrough frostpunk in . Is it as under rated as people make out ? 20 hour game ?

I enjoyed it it was a poor mans witcher but less than 25 hours and you should box it all off. I remember feeling that the decisions carried a bit of weight in the game (I may be completely wrong )

I loved this! I don't think it's anything like Witcher though, more grown up gritty Life Is Strange, same devs iirc. It's fantastic in how every NPC is important and unique, each with their own stories going on and you have to decide whether you want to kill them early for quick blood and upgrades or build up their story to completion unlocking even more xp and then killing them or helping them out, really clever mecanics.
